Boldings report

Boldings report    13-5-15.

For the second Monday running peg 33 on the Sycamore provided the first winner of the week at Boldings Pools, and this time it also gave the best catch of the week.

Mitch Davidson [Oakengates Ang Cent] drew the peg this week, and tackled it with shallow pellet, alternated with maggot in the edge, where he found carp and barbel lurking. Fish of 8lbs and 3lbs respectively dropped regularly into the net for a final tally of 181-6-0.

Last weeks winner Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] filled second spot and had the top weight on the Chestnut Pool, 142-2-0. Colin had a mix of carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs which he attracted with pellet at 4 metres and close to the bank. Paul Wheeler [PI Boldings] added a third here to his win of last Saturday when he weighed in 136-1-0 at Sycamore peg 4, and fourth went to a Willows Pool top weight of 129-11-0 by Mark Skelton [Oak Ang Cent] at peg 19.

Phil Shaw [PI Bold] won his second Wednesday open on the trot when he put up 106-15-0 at Middle peg 3 this week. The same tactics which stood Phil in good stead last week, shallow pellet, combined with close in fishing, worked again to sort out carp to 7lbs.

Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] worked pellet and corn into the corner and at 5 metres at peg 1 for his runner up 72-13-0 of carp to 6lbs. Mitch Davidson added a third to his Monday first thanks to a Stock Pool best of 66-15-0 from peg 10, and just behind him, on 64-2-0 was Tony Foster [PI Bold] at Stock peg 11.

Terry Edwards [Kings] put his faith in caster on Thursday  and was rewarded with a 107-9-0 winner. Offering his bait up in the water at Chestnut peg 16 had carp to 7lbs homing in to give Terry his win.

Jordan Hall [Maver Midlands] opted for shallow pellet at Sycamore peg 50, where carp to 6lbs responded, leaving him 5lbs off the pace with 102-15-0. Third also came from the Sycamore when Dave Brown [Maver Midlands] scaled 100-4-0 at peg 27, then it was back to the Chestnut for fourth in the form of Daz Warden [Kings] whose 84-15-0 came from peg 7.

Colin Wozek [Matrix] made Willows peg 8 a winner on Saturday with a mix of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs weighing 150-15-0. Rotating fishing to the far bank with up in the water tactics with pellet maintained the catch rate to keep Colin ahead of the opposition.

Nearest rival was Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] who had to settle for second for the second Saturday on the trot. He was on the Larch Pool at peg 24, and had carp to 6lbs with bream to 2lbs in a total of 116-2-0. Mitch Davidson had another third when he scaled 112-9-0 at Larch peg 1 and at Willows 19 Steve Hall [Oswestry] had 102-9-0 in fourth.

Morgan Davidson [Oak Ang Cent] took over from brother Mitch as match winner on Sunday, taking victory from peg 13 on the Willows Pool. Shallow pellet got carp to 6lbs feeding to give final figures of 125-4-0.

Just along the bank at peg 11 Mark Taylor [Shakespeare Vespe] had carp and barbel on pellet at 4 metres and down the edge, but was 10lbs short of the mark on 115-8-0 when the whistle went. Third went to an Oak Pool best of 82-7-0 by Terry Holmer [Swan] and a Hawthorn best of 80-7-0 gave another Swan rod, Gary Gollins, fourth.
