Boldings report

Boldings report 26-11-14.

Colin Wozek [Matrix TA] found his winning touch again for the Monday open at Boldings Pools, after he pulled peg 16 on the Beech Pool from the draw bag. Offering pellet at 8 metres and close in to the side, resulted in carp to 7lbs sliding over the rim of the net to give a level 84-0-0.

Out on the point at peg 7 on the same pool, Dave Doughty [Woodend] fished pellet at 5 metres in front of the peg, alternated with pellet to each side of the peg, to find carp to 6lbs, which added up to 64-11-0 for the runner up spot. Beech peg 11 gave a return of 56-7-0 and third place to Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] while fourth placed Josh Humphries [ABC] had the best catch from the Oak Pool, 53-5-0 from peg 8.

Josh Humphreys [ABC] took the main prize on Wednesday on the Chestnut Pool to make it two Wednesday wins in succession when his pellet based 80-8-0 from peg 7 gave him a 13lbs advantage over the rest.

Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] was round at peg 21 and had 67-1-0 on pellet for second. Third came from peg 28 when Pete Ricketts [New Willenhall] weighed 58-13-0, and almost opposite the winner at peg 32 Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] had 49-11-0 in fourth.

Sycamore peg 36 threw up a winner for Terry Edwards [Kings] on Thursday when he topped a fairly tight frame with 72-2-0. Over at point peg 8 Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] finished 4lbs behind on 68-3-0, which gave him less than a pound and a half to spare over third man Dave Brown [Maver] who had 66-13-0 at Sycamore peg 21. Peg 32 on the Chestnut came up with fourth again, with Wednesdays winner Josh Humphreys weighing 61-15-0 to claim the place.

Dave Brown moved up to first place on Saturday to top another close frame. He was on Sycamore peg 21 this time and had carp to 6lbs with barbel to 3lbs, by fishing maggot at 12 metres, with an occasional switch to fishing down the side. At the finish his net contained 67-14-0 and secured him the win.

Last Saturdays winner Mark Skelton [Oak Ang Cent] had the top weight from the Chestnut to finish second this time, his 62-4-0 coming from peg 21 where pellet to the island and in the margins put carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs on the scales.

Chestnut peg 32 featured for the third time, giving third to Scott Doodson [Preston Innov] with a weight of 61-2-0, and just behind him, on 60-0-0 at Sycamore 13 was Paul Wheeler [PI Boldings].

Oakengates Angling Centre rods filled the top three places on Sunday, led by Dave Emlyn from peg 35 on the Chestnut. Dave worked at 14 metres, offering maggot to entice carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs, for a winning total of 74-1-0.

On the Sycamore, at peg 50, Gerry Powell also fished maggot, to find carp of a similar size, together with barbel to 4lbs, to end the day on 69-8-0 in second. Jamie Potts completed the trio of Oakengates men with 64-7-0 for third at Sycamore 37, which left Graham Roberts [PIO Bold] to round things off from Sycamore peg 4 where he scaled 61-0-0.
