Boldings report

Boldings report 27-8-14.

Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] was the star of the show at Boldings Pools this week, following up three placings last week with four appearances in the frame, two first places and two seconds.

First winner of the week though was Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] who posted 132-8-0 to collect the winners purse on the Larch Pool Monday open. Pegged on number 14, Eric presented maggot and corn close to the bank to pick off carp to 8lbs.

Colin Reynolds began his run with a second spot on this match. He fished corn and pellet at peg 25 to net a mix of carp and bream to 8lbs and 2lbs totalling 116-7-0. Josh Humphreys [ABC Baits] added a third to his string of recent wins, weighing in 98-5-0 at peg 8. A level 83-0-0 from peg 16 gave Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] fourth.

Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] won on Wednesday with the top weight of the week, 154-13-0, which came from Beech peg 23. Maggot and corn was the winning bait combo again, with close in tactics finding carp to 9lbs.

Round at peg 16 Tony Foster [PI Bold] landed 79 carp to 3lbs using shallow pellet to finish a close second on 152-3-0. Third went to 144-14-0 from Matt Stobbs [Oakengates Ang Cent] at peg 7 and fourth to Dave Olly [Olly Garage] with 134-6-0 at peg 26.

Colin Reynolds took the first of his two wins on Wednesday when he drew peg 30 on the Sycamore. Corn and pellet, fed to each side of the peg brought in carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs, which built into a winning total of 136-1-0.

At peg 31 on the Oak Gareth Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] caught on pellet at 3 metres to finish second with 113-11-0 of carp to 7lbs. Third also came from the Oak when Harry Colley [PI Bold] scaled 106-11-0 at peg 1 on the end of the dam, then it was back to the Sycamore for the final ‘framer’, Mick Jameson [PI Bold] whose 100-2-0 came from peg 24.

Harry Colley moved up to first place on Saturday by combining meat and pellet at peg 45 on the Sycamore. Carp to 9lbs obliged by taking the bait close in to give a level 82-0-0 for victory.

Colin Reynolds took his second runner up of the week with a mixture of carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs for 75-4-0, three pegs along from the winner at peg 48. Two pegs further along the bank, at corner peg 50, Tony Foster made the list again, his 68-15-0 giving him third ahead of Wednesdays winner Ken Humphreys who had 59-2-0 at peg 36.

Reynolds was back at the top of the card again on Sunday, this time on the Willows Pool. Corn and pellet was successful once more for Colin, accounting for fish of the same stamp as those he landed the previous day, carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs, which gave a tally of 119-12-0 at peg 22.

Brian Clark [Colmic] used maggot and corn at peg 8 for carp of the same size as those of the winner, but he had barbel of a slightly smaller stamp, fish to 2lbs, which left him just short of the target weight on 116-6-0. Peg 4 provided Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent] with a third placed 110-10-0, and next door to him Dave White [Maver Bag’em Baits] had 103-6-0.

Boldings report

Boldings report 19-8-14.

There was yet more success for Josh Humphreys [ABC Baits] at Boldings Pools this week, with another Monday win, and a runner up on Wednesday.

Monday saw Josh on Oak peg 1, where he presented pellet and corn along the side of the dam wall, to find carp to 8lbs willing to have a go at the bait. By the end of the match a total of 133-9-0 had been added to josh’s net, which turned out to be the top weight of the week.

Harry Colley [PI Boldings] was along the bank at peg 27 and included barbel to 3lbs with carp to 9lbs in his runner up 106-2-0, which fell to pellet and meat, fished on the close in line. Third went to 80-8-0 by Colin Wozek [Matrix TA]at peg 8 and at peg 31 Steve Spruce [Worcester] had 61-7-0 in fourth.

Peg 30 on the Sycamore proved fruitful for Steve Roberts [Oakengates Ang Cent] on Wednesday when his maggot and corn feed brought carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs into his swim. Working his bait down the side and at 3 metres resulted in a total of 102-0-0 ending up on the scales to give a clear win.

Josh Humphreys took his runner up 77-10-0 on corn and pellet, presented close in at peg 16, where carp to 8lbs made up the catch. Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] followed his son in the frame, his third placed 65-4-0 coming from peg 13. Jason Andrews made it three Oswestry rods in the frame with his 59-3-0 for fourth at peg 47.

Harry Colley jumped to the top of the card on Thursday, in a closely contested match. he was on Sycamore peg 30 and combined pellet and meat on the inside line to attract carp to 7lbs as well as bream to 3lbsto finish one fish ahead of Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] by weighing in 106-5-0.

Colin was on Oak peg 5 and offered corn and pellet alongside the dam wall to net carp to 8lbs for a tally of 104-7-0. Steve Roberts added a third to his earlier win by scaling 93-13-0 at Oak 27, and at Oak peg 2 Dave Doughty [Woodend] had 83-10-0 in fourth.

Colin Reynolds took his turn at moving up the prize list to top spot on Saturday, winning from peg 13 on the Chestnut. Sticking with a corn and pellet combination  worked for Colin, putting 101-2-0 of carp and bream in his net.

Pellet, fished shallow and close in helped Paul Wheeler [PI Bold] to second at peg 7, with another mix of carp and bream giving figures of 91-1-0. Adam Jones [Willenhall] finished in a close third place, his 89-7-0 coming from peg 26, while at peg 23 Mick Jameson [PI Bold] scaled 73-8-0 to fill fourth spot.

Brian Clark [Colmic] was a winner by 10lbs on Sunday when his shallow pellet approach, alternated with corn and maggot on the inside put 123-12-0 of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs onto the scales at peg 5 on the Willows Pool.

Colin Reynolds made his third visit to the prize table with another runner up finish. His 113-8-0 was the best weight from the Oak Pool again, where close in fishing with corn and pellet returned 113-8-0 at Oak peg 27.

Steve Roberts also made his third appearance in the frame, with a third placed 97-2-0 from peg 16 on the Willows. Next to Steve, at peg 17 Richard Lawson [MTA] finished off the frame with 94-9-0.
