Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  4-6-13.

In contrast to the fine weather of the Bank Holiday week-end, almost constant and heavy rain drenched the competitors at the Boldings Pools Wednesday open following the holiday, testing the waterproofs to the full.

Gary Morris [PI Boldings] took the top award after braving the conditions at Beech peg 26. he fished pellet at 8 metres to net an all carp 80-3-0, consisting of samples in the 1lb to 4lbs range.

Steve Worton [PI Bold] went out to 10 metres at peg 16, alternated with close in tactics, to net 55-2-0 of carp to 6lbs, to claim second. In between the top two, at peg 23 Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] put his name on third by weighing 51-1-0, which was followed by 45-11-0 from Graham Palmer [Fitters] at peg 7.

It was a bit drier on Thursday, but there was still the odd heavy shower to contend with, but they didn’t bother Clive Wright [Mosella] at Chestnut peg 30, where his shallow fished caster found plenty of carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs, which gave a finishing net of 108-14-0.

At Oak peg 29 Jordan Hall [Maver] worked pellet to each side of the point to keep the pressure on the match winner with carp to 7lbs and barbel to 2lbs, but at the whistle he was left needing two more of the bigger fish, and he saw the scales stop at 96-11-0.

Ken Humphries [Oswestry] followed up his double win of last week with a third on this match by scaling 76-4-0 at Oak peg 1, and at Oak 23 Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] was a close 4th on 75-10-0.

Having scored two thirds last week-end, Mitch Davidson [Matrix TA] topped the list on Saturday this week, when the Willows Pool proved best, giving three of the top four weights. Mitch offered pellet at 8 metres and down the side at peg 22 to tempt carp to 7lbs and barbel to 2lbs to stay just ahead of Carl Foster [PI Bold] who was peg 12, catching carp to 6lbs with barbel to 2lbs on corn and pellet in the side. In the end it was the slightly bigger fish landed by Mitch that made the difference, giving him a return of 97-11-0, with Carl’s total being 94-14-0.

Third came from Ash peg 4 where Andy Kyte [Maver Sonubaits] had 83-7-0, and back on the Willows Steve Owen [PI Bold] finished off the frame with a level 79-0-0.

Andy Kyte moved up to the top of the card on Sunday and recorded the best weight of the week, 151-3-0. The catch came from peg 4 on the Larch, and fell to shallow fished pellet.

Jason Elwell [Phil’s Tackle] was top man on the Sycamore, netting 126-8-0 at peg 13, by fishing maggot to each side of the point to take carp to 9lbs. The Oak Pool provided Dave Bowater [PI Bold] with 106-6-0 for third, with Larch peg 1 yielding 97-9-0 to give 4th to Tim Probert [PI Bold].
