Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  25-6-13.

The Stock Pool at Boldings provided Richard Duke [Bridgnorth AS] with the first of two victories when he headed the Monday from peg 3 on the pool. With the fish feeding well in the upper layers of the water, it was shallow pellet tactics which accounted for Richard’s 121-13-0 winner, which consisted of carp in the 6lbs range.

Shallow pellet was also employed by Josh Humphries [ABC] at Deepdale peg 10, but his fish ran a little smaller, with samples from 1lb to 4lbs adding up to 114-8-0. Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] had 75-9-0 for third from Stock peg 7, and at Deepdale 6 Kevin Roderick PI Boldings] had 63-1-0 in fourth.

Weights dipped on the Chestnut on Wednesday but that didn’t bother Josh Humphries, as he moved up to top place despite having over 50lbs less than he did on Monday. Working with shallow pellet again at Chestnut peg 4, Josh had carp to 6lbs this time for a winning 62-6-0.

Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] had a mix of carp and bream on close fished maggot and corn for 58-8-0 to finish second at peg 15. 50-2-0 from peg 21 gave Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] third at peg 21and only 1lb behind him, on 49-1-0, was Phil Shaw [Lower Hill] at peg 28.

Richard Duke added his second win on Thursday, winning from the Oak Pool this time, and switching between paste and shallow pellet tactics. Carp to 7lbs and barbel to 2lbs responded to give a return of 80-9-0, which beat the challenge of Terry Edwards [Wolves] at Oak peg 13. Terry fished pellet at 5 metres and close to the bank for carp and barbel totalling 74-12-0. Third also came from the Oak when Kye Faulkener [Glynwed] finished just 7 ounces behind Terry on 74-5-0 at peg 16. Fourth placed Tony Foster [PI Bold] was top man on the Willows with 68-12-0 from peg 19.

Dave Matson ]Rod& Gun] was back with a bang on Saturday, making sure of top spot by recording the best weight of the week to head an all ton frame on the Sycamore. Fishing down the side of peg 24 with pellet, Dave picked off carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs to put together 133-14-0.

Tony Foster moved up two places to claim second from peg 33, where carp to 8lbs joined bream to 2lbs in a net of 115-0-0, which came to corn and pellet. Close behind Tony, on 113-15-0 was Jamie Longford [Matrix TA] at peg 21 and just behind him on 112-8-0 was Tim Probert [PI Bold].

Sycamore pegs filled  the top three places on Sunday, and it was a maggot attack which put Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] at the top of the list. He was on peg 36 and netted carp to 8lbs with barbel to 3lbs for a winning 118-15-0.

Colin Wozek [MTA] alternated shallow pellet with close in fishing at peg 16 to finish second with a mixture of carp and bream weighing 112-5-0. Over at corner peg 50 Pete Ricketts weighed in 97-4-0 to collect third, and a Willows top score of 96-7-0 from peg 5 saw Colin Reynolds [Bilston AC] into fourth.

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  18-6-13.

Paste was the top bait on the Willows Pool on Monday at Boldings Pools, with the top two both employing it. Keith Miller [New Willenhall] found carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs with the bait at peg 17 for a winning 82-7-0.

At peg 8 Ken Shaw [PI Boldings] fished to the opposite bank to pick off carp to 6lbs for his runner up 79-14-0. Tony Woolaston [PI Bold] took third from corner peg 9 where he scaled 69-15-0 and next to the winner Richard Duke [BAS] had 65-13-0 in 4th.

A carp of 10lbs helped to boost the catch of Pete Moss [Rod & Gun] on Wednesday’s open on the Chestnut. Pete was on peg 35 and had his fish on pellet and maggot at 5 metres and down the side to weigh 63-0-0. Almost opposite the winner on peg 4, Ken Humphries [Oswestry] fished maggot and corn to each side of his peg, and had carp to 7lbs with bream to 2lbs in a 58-5-0 net. At peg 38 Tony Foster [PI Bold] weighed 53-10-0 for third and Josh Humphries [ABC] joined his dad in the frame by netting 48-6-0 at peg 21.

Ash peg 6 came up with a winner for Chris Jones [Carp Crew] on Thursday when carp to 5lbs responded to his pellet bait, presented at 13 metres. By the finishing whistle, Chris had slipped the net under 82-15-0.

Eric Bancroft [R&G] worked paste along the dam wall at Oak peg 1, where carp to 8lbs and barbel to 2lbs lurked to give a return of 72-5-0 for second place. At the other end of the Oak dam, Ed Turner [PI Bold] found 67-11-0 for third, and back on the Ash Rob Hancox [Shortheath Starlets] netted 60-7-0 at peg 1 for 4th.

Colin Wozek [Matrix TA] notched up another win on Saturday when the ghost carp of the Willows Pool homed in on his shallow fished pellet at peg 4, with samples to 5lbs adding up to 121-15-0. Colin Reynolds [Bilston AC] also got amongst the ghosties, as well as some barbel, at peg 18, taking fish at 4 metres and 8 metres to end on 101-5-0. Peg 5 produced 93-4-0 to give Steve Hall [Oswestry] third and peg 9 gave Mick Jameson [PI Bold] 63-10-0 and 4th.

Dave Hailey [PI Bold] scored his second successive Sunday win and had top weight of the week again, which like last week, came from the Oak Pool. Drawn on the point at peg 29 this time, Dave used the shallow pellet approach which stood him in good stead at peg 16 last week. Carp to 5lbs again made up his winning catch, which this time was 129-3-0.

Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] fished pellet in the side, and at 5 metres at peg 7 on the Ash to build his 109-12-0 with carp to 7lbs. At Oak 13 Pete Ricketts [New Willenhall] beat the ton to finish third on 101-6-0, and a Larch top score of 94-15-0 from peg 22 gave Carl Jones [Ind] 4th.
