Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  30-10-12.

The Monday open gave the best weight of the week again at Boldings, and amazingly it was identical to last weeks best, with both coming from the Stock Pool,   which filled the frame this time. Match winner Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) was on peg 1 and worked maggot, close to the bank for a succession of carp to 7lbs which helped him to pull clear of the field and end the day on 119-8-0.

Over on peg 10, Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) offered shallow pellet, and had a similar number of fish to the winner, but they were of a smaller stamp, in the 1lb to 4lb range, and that left him some way short on 74-9-0.

Third man Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) weighed 70-2-0 at peg 4 and at peg 7 Mick Jones (Kidderminster) had 61-2-0 in 4th.

Ken Humphries (Oswestry) was the only competitor on the Beech Pool to make the frame on Wednesday, but he made it in the most important place, at the top of the list. It was a case of all the sevens for Ken, who won by fishing pellet at 5 metres and maggot close in on the point at peg 7, to haul in 77-7-0 of carp 7lbs.

Ash peg 7 provided Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Ang Cent) with the runner up weight, and he was less than 2lbs off the pace with 75-10-0 of carp to 6lbs on pellet at 5 metres.

Last Wednesdays winner Brian Clark (Colmic Marukyu) picked up third this time, having netted 66-8-0 from Ash peg 17, and at peg 9, Harry Colley (PI Boldings) took 4th with a level 63-0-0.

Car Foster ((PI Bold) jumped from fourth last Thursday to first this week, but with a reduced weight as the cold weather slowed sport. Carp to 6lbs and barbel to 2lbs put in an appearance at Oak peg 16 for Carl, responding to pellet, both at 5 metres and close to the bank to give a level 55-0-0.

The rest of the weights came from the Chestnut, with Mick Jameson making the frame again, picking up second from peg 23. Pellet, fished to the island and close in found carp to 4lbs and skimmers to 2lbs for 49-12-0. Matt Stobbs was also there again, filling third with 45-14-0 from peg 35, and opposite him on peg 4, last weeks double winner Steve Roberts (Oak Ang Cent) had 36-6-0 for 4th.

PI Boldings rods filled the frame on a cold and windy Saturday when Tim Probert pocketed the top prize. He was drawn on Larch peg 4 and alternated between the 10 and 15 metre lines with pellet to net 65-4-0, made up with carp to 5lbs.

At Larch 15 Gary Morris worked with corn and pellet at 5 metres to finish second on 54-7-0, having caught carp to 7lbs. Carl Foster had another pick up, his Willows best of 45-6-0 putting him into third overall, just ahead of Keith Powell whose 45-1-0 came from Larch 5.

Weights were up again on Sunday and 85-6-0 gave a narrow victory to Adam Slade (Sedgeley) who opted for a shallow pellet attack at Willows peg 5. The move resulted in a lot of carp in the 1lb to 4lb bracket, which gave Adam just 9 ounces to spare over runner up Mark Lloyd (Oak Ang Cent). He was on Larch peg 7 and fished close in and at 5 metres with pellet and maggot to end the day with 84-13-0, which featured carp to 7lbs.

Last Sundays winner Dave Craggs (Maver Midlands) claimed third when he scaled 72-10-0 at Willows 9, and Mick Jameson made his third visit of the week to the prize table, taking home 4th thanks to a level; 69-0-0 from Willows 9.
