BOLDINGS REPORT  25-9-12.

 

The Stock Pool provided the winning catch again for the Monday Affordable open at Boldings Pools, with top weight coming from peg 4 for the second time in three weeks..

          Mark Churchill (PI Boldings) was the name on the winners purse after the result was announced, and he earned the coin with a pellet approach, which found carp to 7lbs on the close in line for a total of 98-12-0.

          At peg 1 on the Middle Pool Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) alternated fishing at 5 metres, with close in tactics, and while he matched the winner in the number of fish landed, his were of a smaller stamp, up to 5lbs, which left him on 86-1-0 at the finish.

          Third came from Middle peg 11 where Carl Foster (PI Bold) weighed 70-9-0, and 4^th from Stock peg 11 which yielded 65-2-0 for Phil Shaw (Lower Hill).

 

          Josh Humphries (ABC) is on a good run at Boldings and picked up a win on the Wednesday open on the. Pegged on Chestnut 7, Josh switched between shallow pellet and close in tactics for a harvest of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs weighing in at 99-13-0.

          Josh’s dad Ken pushed him to the finish, taking carp and barbel on pellet at 6 metres and close in at peg 18, to finish just under 6lbs adrift on 93-15-0.

          Phil Shaw framed again, taking third this time with 75-10-0 from peg 4, and tight behind him, on 75-4-0 was Harry Colley (PI Bold) at peg 32.

 

          Mark Taylor (Shakespeare) converted a second last Thursday to a first this week when he topped a close frame from peg 7 on the Beech. Pellet to each side of the point and out at 8 metres just helped Mark to hang on for the win, giving figures of 95-3-0, just 10 ounces more than Gareth Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent). He was on peg 14 on the Ash, and tempted 94-9-0 of carp to 6lbs with maggot. Last Mondays winner Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) picked up third at Beech 5 where he scaled 92-4-0, and at Beech 17 Brian Clarke (Colmic Marukyu) had 80-15-0 for 4^th.

 

          Gareth Emlyn stepped up a place on Saturday and posted top weight of the week, when Chestnut 7 proved a winner again.

          Gareth Stuck to his maggot attack, and picked up carp, bream and barbel from each side of the peg, with specimens to 8lbs and 3lbs making up a 118-0-0 total.

          Nige Clarke (PI Bold) was on peg 13 on the Sycamore, where pellet to each side of the point produced carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs, but not enough to trouble the winner, as Nige ended the match on 99-6-0. Third went to Maver rod Dave Craggs, who had 80-2-0 at Chestnut 32, and at Sycamore peg 4 fellow Maver rod Pete Plant scaled 71-11-0 in 4^th.

 

          Pete Plant took his turn at moving up the list on Sunday when his usual shallow caster method gave him a narrow victory over Dave Jones (Oswestry). Pete was on Chestnut 24 and had carp in the 1lb to 4lb range at 12 metres to weigh 90-5-0. Dave had carp to 8lbs and bream to 2lbs on pellet and corn, close in, and at 5 metres, for 87-12-0 at Beech 18.

BOLDINGS REPORT  18-9-12.

 

          Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) took up a familiar role as Monday winner at Boldings Pools, heading a close frame from peg 1 on the Stock Pool. Corn and pellet, fished into the corner, sorted out carp to 8lbs, and Colin needed every one of his fish, as his 80-5-0 gave him only a ten ounce advantage over Phil Shaw (Lower Hill). Phil was on peg 7 on the Stock, and had a mix of carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs on close in pellet, to weigh 79-11-0.

          On the Hawthorn Pool, at peg 12, Steve Eckershall (Bolton) was a close third with 78-15-0, and back on the Stock, Godfrey Wood (Total Angling) weighed 73-12-0 at peg 10 to finish 4^th.

 

          The wet and windy weather meant the Chestnut Pool was in a bit of a subdued mood for the Wednesday open, but provided another close match, and a remarkable co-incidence, as ten ounces was the winning margin again. Martin Harrell (Maver) was on peg 7 and worked pellet and corn close to the bank to find carp to 6lbs for a final tally of 57-12-0. Almost opposite, at peg 32, Josh Humphries (ABC) also worked pellet and corn close in, and had carp to 4lbs with barbel to 3lbs to finish on 57-2-0.

          Phil Shaw was in on the action again, taking third this time by scaling 53-15-0 at peg 37. Opposite Phil, at peg 4, Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) was a close 4^th on 52-14-0.

 

          The Willows Pool gave the top two catches on Thursday, with shallow pellet tactics proving best in both cases. Colin Wozak (Telford) pulled 20lbs ahead at peg 9 with a mixture of carp to 6lbs and barbel to 2lbs, which gave a total on 109-13-0.

          Willow peg 17 gave two winners last week, but this time Mark Taylor (Shakespeare) had to settle for second when the scales settled at 88-15-0.

          Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) and Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) shared third when they each weighed 82-1-0, Mick at Oak peg 27 and Eric at Oak 31.

 

          Mick Jameson stepped up from third to first on Saturday, filling first place from peg 7 on the Ash Pool. Carp and skimmers, with samples to 6lbs and 1lb respectively, responded to pellet at 4 metres, and at the whistle Mick had dropped 113-12-0 into his net.

          Carl Stevens (green Man) was top man on the Beech Pool, and second overall, with a pellet based 97-11-0 of carp to 8lbs, which came from close in at peg 20.

          Phil Shaw was in the list again, his third best 95-9-0 coming from Ash 22, and at Ash 16 Tony Foster (PI Boldings) had 85-3-0 in fourth.

 

          Andy Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) took the plaudits for the top weight of the week by winning the Sunday open with 122-14-0. He was Beech peg 23 and fished maggot close in to each side of the peg to pick off carp to 8lbs.

          At peg 14 on the same pool, Kelvin Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) also caught on close in maggot tactics, but found the carp ran a little smaller, up to 7lbs, which left him short of the winner by 7lbs on 115-14-0.
