Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  9/11/10.

Weights at Boldings Pools reflected the down turn in weather conditions, with the Monday open being won with less than half the previous weeks winning weight.

Top man this time was Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) who just got the better of a close battle with Andy Williams (Vespe Total Angling).

Kevin was on peg 9 on the Hawthorn and operated with maggot and pellet, presenting the bait at 6 metres and to the island to pick off carp to 4lbs on his way to 52-1-0.

Andy was on peg 16 on the Beech where corn and maggot at 4metres and 10 metres put carp to 5lbs in the net for 51-10-0. At Hawthorn peg 11 Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) had 49-8-0 for third and at Beech 23 last Mondays winner, Carl Foster (O B Wolves) had 48-5-0 in 4th.

Rick Tymuscuk (Mid Leisure) had top weight of the week to win the Wednesday open, 66-7-0, which was made up with carp to 6lbs and bream to 4lbs, at Sycamore peg 24. Rick fished pellet at 5 metres and 8 metres to take his fish.

Kevin Melville was back in the frame with a second placed 65-6-0, which was a Chestnut best, coming from peg 32. Nearly half of Kevin’s catch was skimmers, the rest being carp, all caught on maggot.

Also on the Chestnut was third man Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) who scaled 51-4-0, and back on the Sycamore Karl Haywood (Sedgeley) had 43-8-0 for 4th.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) took a turn at the top on Thursday, posting 61-3-0 at Hawthorn peg 13 for his win. Colin fished pellet at 3 metres and 6metres for carp to 6lbs.

Last Sundays winner Kelvin Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) collected second with a Middle Pools top score of 53-14-0, taken on maggot and pellet, fished in the side and at 8 metres.

Back on the Hawthorn, Graham Roberts (OB Wolves) weighed in 46-6-0 at peg 3 for third, with Ken Humphries close behind on 45-8-0 at peg 15.

Rino Stanko (Oakengates Ang Cent) stepped up from third last Saturday to first this week, heading a close frame with 59-5-0. Carp to 6 lbs and bream to 2lbs responded to his pellet bait, fished at 13 metres at peg 33 on the Sycamore.

Keith Powell (OBW) offered pellet and corn from the point at peg 13 on the same pool to net 57-14-0 of carp to 7lbs. Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) was only one ounce behind second with his Chestnut best of 57-13-0 and not far behind him was Andy Bayliss-Kyte on 55-7-0 at Sycamore 24.

Pete Plant (Maver Midlands) added a Sunday win this week to his Saturday success last week, taking top spot from peg13 on the Willows Pool. Using his favourite shallow caster method, Pete put 58-5-0 of carp to 6lbs in his net to claim the coin.

Colin Reynolds added a second place to mid week first by scaling 54-15-0 at Sycamore peg 24. Dave Matson (Rod & Gun) had a Chestnut best of 51-2-0 for third, and for the second time in two days Andy Bayliss-Kyte was 4th, this time with 43-6-0 from the Sycamore.
