The week-end saw Steve Owen (Mid Leisure) score a double top, his first win coming from the Willows Pool on Saturday. Drawn on peg 5, he opted for a straight lead approach, alternated with the pole at 12 metres. Maggot was the successful bait again, with carp to 3lbs making up a total of 41-3-0.
Sam Rushton (Fox Tipton) found a nest of small carp in the corner at Sycamore peg 4, and picked off a lot of fish to 12ozs using maggot, to scale 34-1-0. Nige Clarke (Mosella) finished a pound behind second with 33-1-0 at Sycamore 49.
The top three weights on Sunday came from three different pools, with the Middle providing Steve with his second win. He was on peg 8, where maggot fished in the side and corn at 7 metres had carp to 4lbs coming to the net for 32-4-0.
Dave Hailey (OBW) had better fish, with samples to 5lbs at peg 16 on the Beech, where he offered pellet and maggot at 7metres and 12 metres, but he didn’t have enough to match the winner, finishing on 25-15-0. Ben Stamford (Mosella) headed the Deepdale card with 23-15-0 to take third and Sam Rushdon framed again with 22-14-0 for 4th at Beech peg 9.
