Boldings Report 6/10/09

 

          Martyn Travis scored his win at Boldings Pools on Monday when he narrowly beat Alun Jones (Deggys Wrexham). Martyn was on corner peg 13 on the Willows and found carp to 5lbs using pellet, close in and up in the water to scale 53-1-0.

          Alun offered pellet at 8 metres from peg 7 on the same pool, where carp to 6lbs added up to 51-2-0. Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) added to his frame list with 49-11-0 for third.

 

          Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang cent) left the rest trailing on the Wednesday match when his shallow pellet and close in corn tactics put 89-8-0 of carp to 8lbs in the net peg 24 on Sycamore.

          Howard Williams (Weston Pools) was top on the Chestnut with 48-7-0 to take second, just ahead of Andy Williams (Vespe). He was on Sycamore 21and weighed in 47-1-0, with Tim Treherne (Oakengates Ang Cent) completing the frame with 46-5-0 at Sycamore 46.

 

          The top three came from the Beech on Thursday, with point peg 7 giving victory to John Wild (Stafford). Pellet, fished shallow and at 3 metres brought carp to 7lbs to the net for final figures of 67-11-0.

          Over to the right of the winner Graham Roberts (OB Wolves) fished pellet at  4 metres and in the margins for 55-13-0 to fill second spot, Ed Turner (OBW) weighed 52-12-0 at Beech 9 for third and Howard Williams framed again with an Oak best o 52-9-0 for 4th.

 

          Saturday produced a tight finish, with only four and a quarter pounds covering the top four places.

          Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) won with a pellet based 63-13-0 from Willows peg 4, but only had one pound to spare over the in form Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent).

          Colin was on Ash peg 14 where corn and pellet put 62-12-0 on mainly small carp in the net, and he needed all his fish as Keith Miller (New Willenhall) was only ten ounces behind on 62-2-0 at Ash 16. John Francis (R&G)finished things off with 59-9-0 at Willows peg 20.

 

          John Wild made two wins in a week by claiming first on Sunday, on the Sycamore.

          John drew peg 33 and worked pellet at 6 metres for carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs, ending the match on 60-1-0. Not far behind the winner was Eric Bancroft with his second frame of the week. He was on peg 18 and caught carp to 5lbs, close in on pellet for 57-2-0.
