Boldings report

Boldings Report 11/3/09

Harry Colley (OB Wolves) won the first of the Monday Affordable Opens at Boldings Pools by fishing pellet and corn at 5 metres and to the side of the tree at peg 29 on the Oak Pool. The tactics saw Harry netting carp to 4lbs on his way to a 35-6-0 total.

On the other side of the pool Karl Haywood (Sedgeley Lions) had carp in the 1lb to 3lb bracket on pellet at 5 metres for 30-4-0 at peg 8 to finish second, with Carl Foster (OBW) just behind him on 28-12-0 at peg 22, and over on corner peg 19, Andy Williams (Vespe) had 23-9-0 for 4th.

Pete Plant (Maver) had the top weight of the week on Wednesday, but it was only just good enough to hold off Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure).

Pete was on Deepdale peg 3 and fished caster and maggot, up in the water to net 68-13-0 while Mick, making the first of three frame appearances, used pellet at peg 7 on the Hawthorn Pool for 68-2-0. Winner of the previous two Wednesday matches Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) finished third this time with 56-15-0 from Hawthorn 13.

On Thursday Richard Lawson (Maver) alternated bread with shallow fished maggot at peg 24 on the Sycamore, to find carp to 8lbs at 14 metres. At the whistle Richard had 62-10-0 in the met to claim top spot.

Carl Foster added a second place to his third of Monday when he posted a Chestnut best of 55-13-0, taken on maggot feeder at peg 28. Mick Jameson was top man on the Oak with 54-5-0 for third overall and Dave Grey (Wolverhampton) had 35-7-0 at Oak 29 for 4th.

Pete Plant was back at the top of the list on Saturday when four different pools produced the top four weights.

Pete was on the Larch where his shallow caster and maggot method attracted carp to 6lbs for a 60-11-0 winner. Ed Turner (OBW) fished pellet at 5 metres and 14 metres at point peg 7 on the Beech, and included carp to 9 lbs in his runner up 55-7-0.

Simon Richardson (Maver) put a Willows best of 51-0-0 on the scales  for third and a Chestnut best of 44-4-0 saw Jason Atwell (Kingswinford) collect 4th.

Beech peg 7 proved a winner on Sunday when Nick Powell (Wolverhampton) won what turned out to be  another close encounter. Fishing pellet at 6 metres, Nick dropped 63-8-0 into the net, a catch of carp to 6lbs.

Mick Jameson was there again, adding another second to account by leading the way on the Oak, where peg 29 also featured again. Mick netted carp to 8lbs using pellet at 4 metres and 8 metres for a final total of 62-11-0.

Back on the Beech Steve Roberts (R&G) scaled 44-4-0 at peg 11 for third, then it was back to the Oak for 42-2-0 which gave Martin Harrell (Maver) 4th.
