KITSON’S BOLDINGS BONANZA.

Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) hit the high notes at Boldings Pools this week, taking advantage of the better weather in mid-week to record the top catch of 122-11-0       That came on the Thursday open when Mel drew peg 49 on the Sycamore, and took a succession of carp to 9lbs on corn and pellet fished to each side of the peg.

Over on the Chestnut, Ed Turner (OB Wolves) used the same bait combination at peg 6, to tempt carp to 10lbs and tench to 3lbs, but couldn’t match the winners catch rate and finished on 81-2-0.

Peg 30 on the Sycamore and peg 30 on the Chestnut gave the next two place weights, with John Wild (Team Cudmore) nipping into third with 73-2-0 and Howard Williams (Wrexham) was just behind him on 71-2-0.

The Saturday match also a ton up winner, despite the wind swinging round to a north easterly direction, and bringing temperatures down.

Kevin Melville ((Phoenix Tackle) was the man in the driving seat this time, and the Chestnut Pool produced the goods for him. Kevin opted for corn and maggot, close in at peg 16, and found carp to 10lbs for 102-2-0. Runner up Mick Jameson (Middy ML) was on Larch peg 5, and alternated between 10 metres and close in with pellet for 75-4-0.

Graham Roberts (OB Wolves) and Richard Lawson (Rod & Gun) battled for third, with Graham just getting there with 70-15-0 at Chestnut 21 to Richards 70-7-0 at Sycamore 8.

The first and last matches of the week were both won with identical weights of 94-0-0. Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) led the way on Wednesday at peg 26 on the Chestnut, when his 94-0-0 was only just enough to beat Ted Ecclestone (Maver Wolves) who scaled 93-8-0 at peg 21. Steve Roberts (Rod & Gun) was third on 76-7-0 and Carl Foster (OB Wolves) 4th with 60-11-0.

On Sunday Pete Tolley (OB Wolves) netted 94-0-0 at peg 33 on the Sycamore to prevent a Kitson double, as Mel scaled 78-13-0 at Sycamore 13.

Two peg 8s took the next two places, with Dave Brown (Maver Tipton) claiming third with an Oak Pool best of 62-1-0 and |Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) finishing of  the week with 52-3-0 for 4th at Sycamore 8.
