Boldings report    15-8-17.

Matt Edgerton [Oakengates Ang Cent] had an outstanding week at Boldings Pool, with two first places and a second to his credit.

Monday saw Matt in action on the Willows Pool, bagging ghost carp to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs at peg 8. Pellet, fished at 5 metres and down the side accounted for the fish, which gave a total of 121-0-0 for a narrow victory.

Stephan Davies [Shrewsbury] pressed his case all the way to the finish, and was less than a pound behind with 120-7-0 at Willows peg 16. Steph also caught on pellet, which he fished shallow, and in the side, for carp to 6lbs and barbel to 4lbs. Eric Bancroft        [Rod & Gun] booked in 103-2-0 at peg 13 to finish third, while 77-11-0 from peg 5 handed fourth to Ralph Johnson [P I Boldings].

In the Wednesday open on the Beech Pool Dave Brown [Maver] strolled to victory, leaving the rest of the field trailing in his wake. He was on peg 32 and presented pellet down the side, alternated with maggot at 5 metres, which put carp to 8lbs and bream to 2lbs in the net for a total of 121-14-0, more than three times the next weight.

Nearest challenger Graham Palmer [[PI Bold] was a long way back on 37-10-0 at peg 16, having caught on pellet and corn, close in and at 6 metres. Mick Jameson [PI Bold] was just behind at peg 20 where he weighed 36-13-0, which left Matt Stobbs [Oak Ang Cent] to pick up fourth with his 33-13-0 at peg 9.

Matt Edgerton was back at the top of the list on Thursday, this time on the Sycamore Pool, where pellet worked again. Matt worked the bait at 6 metres and into the corner at peg 50, where carp to 7lbs combined with barbel and bream to 3lbs to give a 107-12-0 winner.

At peg 21 Paul Evans [PI Bold] fished caster, down the shelf to pick off carp to 8lbs on his way to a runner up 96-4-0. Dave Brown added a third to his win of the previous day, his 90-7-0 coming from peg 39. Up in the corner at peg 27, Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] took fourth with a level 71-0-0.

Colin Reynolds made a triumphal return to the Sycamore on Saturday, exchanging his fourth place for a first after he drew point peg 13. Pellet, presented close in to each side of the point put Colin in contact with carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs, which he used to build a 145-13-0 top weight.

Matt Edgerton tagged a second place onto his double top with a pellet based 103-13-0 of carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs at peg 34. Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] filled third with the top catch from the Larch Pool, 63-14-0 from peg 8, and Graham Palmer made the frame again with 56-0-0 from Sycamore 8.

The Sunday honours were shared between the Beech and the Larch pools, with the winner coming from the Beech in the form of Shane Rogers [Oak Ang Cent]. Drawn on peg 26, Shane offered pellet and maggot, close in to each side of the peg to net carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs as he put together 103-12-0.

Colin Reynolds made his third trip to the prize table by recoding the top weight on the Larch, 91-7-0, which gave him second overall. Back on the Beech, Kel Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] scaled 90-4-0 for third at peg 7, which was followed by 85-2-0 from Gareth Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] at Larch 19.

Boldings report    2-8-17.

Dave Doughty [PI Boldings] was in a class of his own at Boldings Pools on Wednesday and ended the day with double the weight of anyone else. Dave drew peg 21 on the Chestnut Pool and had the carp and bream feeding well on corn in the margins. Samples to 7lbs and 3lbs added up to 133-10-0 when the scales arrived.                                                                                                                 Graham Lewis [Dawley] combined pellet and corn to fish at 4 metres and down the side at peg 30, but couldn't get the fish going like the winner, and finished with 65-3-0 in second. Over on peg 10 Tony Foster [PI Bold] picked up third by scaling 51-10-0 and opposite him Ralph Johnson [PI Bold] completed the frame with 43-12-0.

Things were more even on Thursday, although match winner Paul Evans [PI Bold] did give himself  a 14lb buffer between him and a close battle for the rest of the places.                                                                                                                                        Paul was on Sycamore peg 48, where caster, down the shelf attracted carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs, which added up to 139-4-0.

Matt Edgerton [Oakengates Ang Cent] went for a pellet approach at point peg 13, working the bait to each side to pick off carp to 8lbs and barbel to 4lbs to scrape in front of Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] who was on the point, peg 8. Matt finished on 125-7-0, and Colin on a level 125-0-0. Fourth went to an Oak Pool best of 120-7-0 from Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] at peg 22.

Colin Reynolds moved to the top of the list on Saturday, when he drew the same peg which gave him third in the week, Sycamore 8. The pool was in a much more subdued mood for this match and Colin needed less than half his mid week weight to win. Pellet at 4 metres and in the sides put 60-13-0 on the scales for the victory.

Les Thompson [Matrix] worked pellet at 12 metres and close in at peg 18 to net a runner up 54-11-0 of carp to 5lbs. Steve Owen [Monkhall] was a fish behind with his 5213-0 at peg 44. Mick Foan [Rod & Gun] finished things off by scaling 40-5-0 at peg 42.

Eric Bancroft followed the example of Colin Reynolds to convert his mid week fourth to a Sunday first, and he did it with the best weight of the week, 181-11-0. Fishing paste to each side of Chestnut peg 21 saw Eric netting carp and bream, with fish to 8lbs and 3lbs making up the catch.

Jack O'Sullivan [O'gates Ang Cent] included carp, barbel and bream in his pellet based runner up 136-0-0 at peg 26. Up at peg 4 91-11-0 gave third to Adam Jones [Willenhall] with Kelvin Emlyn [O'gates Ang Cent] fourth at peg 32 where he weighed 86-11-0.
