Boldings report    22-3-17.

 

Harry Colley [PI Boldings] had the top weight of the week at Boldings Pools this week when he won the Sunday open from peg 4 on the Chestnut Pool. Using his favourite combination of baits, pellet, corn and meat, Harry got the attention of carp to 8lbs on the close in line on each side of the peg, and moved clear of the field to end the match with a total of 139-0-0.

          Rob Lloyd [Maver] was at the back of the island, on peg 23, but fished into the corner using corn and pellet, which gave a catch of carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs weighing 91-7-0. Mick Jameson [PI Bold] was close behind in third with his Oak Pool top score of 89-0-0. Fourth went to another pool best, 80-9-0, which Dave Doughty [PI Bold] recorded at Sycamore peg 13.

 

                   In the build up to the week-end, Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] recorded the first success of the week, victory in the Monday open on the Larch Pool. Eric pulled peg 1 from the draw bag, and tackled it with a maggot attack, offering the bait to each side to entice carp to 7lbs to feed. They moved in on the bait to give figures of 114-7-0 to clinch the top prize for Eric.

          Up at the other end of the pool, at peg 22, Graham Roberts [PI Bold] had fish of a similar size to those of the winner, on pellet and corn, worked at 6 metres and close in. When the end of the match came, he was three fish short of the target with a level 93-0-0. Phil Shaw [PI Bold] was only 3lbs behind on 89-13-0 at peg 19, and up at peg 4 Ralph Johnson [Willenhall] finished on 84-13-0 in fourth.

 

          Two Tricast Weston rods vied for top spot on Wednesday, with the laurels going to Mick Keene, who held off a challenge from Jeff Harston. Mick was on peg 5 on the Beech Pool, and picked off carp to 7lbs using corn, pellet and maggot, which he presented at 8 metres as well as close in to the bank.

          Jeff drew peg 1 on the Oak Pool, where corn and pellet close to the dam wall, and at 5 metres saw him netting carp to 6lbs. When the scales came round, the better stamp of fish landed by Keene made a difference, with him weighing in 74-11-0, while Harston saw the scales settle at 62-5-0.

          Two pegs close together on the field side of the Willows Pool gave the first two weights on Saturday, with the top performance coming from Kelvin Emlyn at peg 7. Maggot gave control of the match to Kelvin, producing carp to 7lbs and barbel to 5lbs from the inside line and also from the 5 metre range, to give a return of 116-7-0.

          At peg 5 Clive Wynn [Tri West] went out to 12 metres with pellet and caster, but also had fish on the inside on the same baits, with carp to 6lbs and barbel to 5lbs adding up to 99-6-0. Round the corner at peg 11 Dave Pritchard [PI Bold] slipped 93-5-0 on the scales for third and at peg 9 Tony Foster [PI Bold] finished just behind on 92-11-0.

Boldings report    8-3-17.

 

Ian Hughes [Drennan] hit the hundred pound mark to win the Monday open at Boldings Pools from peg 18 on the Beech Pool. Maggot on the pole at 12 metres sorted out carp in the 7lbs range to give Ian a 102-8-0 top haul of the day.

          Mick Foan [Rod & Gun] finished in second for the second Monday running, his 70-6-0 was made up with carp to 5lbs, which came to pellet and corn at Beech 5. Phil Rhodes [PI Boldings] had 58-11-0 from Beech 7 to claim third, just shading out Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] who had the top catch from the Hawthorn Pool, 58-6-0 at peg 1.

 

          Steve Hall beat a trio of Willows Pool weights to take the Wednesday honours at peg 4 on the Sycamore Pool. Fishing corn and pellet close in, Steve contacted carp to 6lbs to put together 83-11-0.

Stuart Aston [Swan] squeezed into second by recording the best weight on the Willows, 73-8-0 at peg 5. Carp to 6;bs and barbel to 5lbs helped Stu to  pip the 72-12-0 of Dave Brown [Maver] at Willows peg 16. At Willows 7 Graham Palmer [Fitters] had 62-8-0 in fourth.      

 

 

          Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] went for an up in the water approach to offer maggot and bread at peg 50 on the Sycamore Pool on Thursday, and got carp to 8lbs coming up for the bait. At the end of the match Clive had a level 93-0-0 to hand over to the scales, which put him top of the list.

          Down at peg 24 Mick Jameson [PI Bold] worked pellet at 6 metres and in the side to pick off carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs, but finished one carp short of the target when the scales registered 87-4-0. Colin Reynolds added a third to his earlier fourth place and had another pool best with 83-8-0 from Chestnut peg 30. Peg 21 on the Sycamore produced 78-3-0 to give fourth to Graham Roberts [PI Bold].         

 

          Morgan Davidson          [Monkhall] filled the Saturday top slot by working maggot up in the water and close in the bank at peg 8 on the Sycamore to scale 109-14-0, which consisted of carp to 6lbs.       

Simon Christian [Sedgley] was up at Sycamore 47 where maggot and pellet on the 12 metre line and close in gave a catch of carp to 7lbs totaling 87-5-0. Steve Owen [Monkhall] took third with a Chestnut best of 83-7-0 at peg 23, and back on the Sycamore Matt Stobbs [Oakengates Ang Cent] had 75-1-0 at peg 13 to finish in fourth.

 

           

Richard Guest [Maver] saved the best for last when he booked into the top weight of the week slot on Sunday, when he drew peg 31 on the Oak Pool. Maggot, fished in the margins to each side had the fish, carp to 6lbs, queuing up to gives figures of 158-15-0.

          Along at Oak 24 Harry Colley [PI Bold] used corn, pellet and meat down the side to bring in 101-14-0 of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs. Les Thompson [Matrix] topped the Chestnut card with 85-8-0 to pick up third at peg 30, which left Jason Atwell [Kingswinford] to collect fourth with his 82-15-0 at Oak 22.

Boldings report    8-3-17.

 

          Dave Cole [Bronx] claimed the coin in the Monday open at Boldings Pools, taking the honours at peg 23 on the Beech Pool, where corn at 10 metres had carp to 6lbs feeding to the tune of 76-4-0.    

          Mick Foan [Rod & Gun] was just around at peg 18, to the right of the winner where slightly smaller carp, fish to 5lbs, responded to pellet and corn at 12 metres as well as on the inside line, to ease Mick into second with 70-10-0. Stephan Davies [Shrewsbury] took third with 65-2-0 from peg 7, opposite the winner and two pegs away from him, Mick Keene [Tri Cast Weston] had 56-13-0 in fourth.

 

                    Neil Jones [Tricast Weston] registered a clear win on Wednesday when he employed a pellet and maggot attack at peg 29 on the Oak Pool. Baiting at 12 metres and close in at the point peg, Neil attracted carp to 5lbs to put together his 95-14-0 top weight.

          Last Wednesdays winner Dave Brown {Maver] finished in second this time, he up at peg 22 on the Oak, and he also offered pellet and maggot to entice carp to 4lbs from the 8 metre line and from close in. At the finish Dave had 66-2-0 to hand over to the scales. Danny Maxfield [Maver] was some way behind in third with his 42-6-0 from Oak peg 4, while Mick Jameson [PI Boldings] was only 5 ounces behind Danny with his Ash Pool best of 42-1-0 from peg 14.

 

                    Dave Brown upped his game on Thursday to finish in top spot, 26lbs in front of the rest. Staked on peg 4 on the Larch, Dave alternated long and short pole to present pellet long and maggot short to pick off carp in the 5lbs bracket for final figures of 91-7-0.

          Andy Williams [Vespe] was on peg 26 on the Beech where maggot and corn put 65-2-0 on the scales for second. Third was shared by Dave Doughty [Wood End] and Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] who each weighed in 56-12-0. Dave's catch came from peg 16 on the Larch, and Eric was on peg 9 on the Beech.

 

                    It was tight at the top on Saturday with only two pounds between first and second. First went to Morgan Davidson [Monkhall] at Larch peg 26 where maggot and pellet, close in and at 13 metres brought carp to 7lbs together with roach and bream to the net for a total on 73-3-0.

          Over on Larch 16 Gary Morris [PI Bold] worked corn and pellet at 10 metres and close in to bag carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs which gave a level 71-0-0. Larch 4 came up with 59-3-0 to give third to Steve Hall [Oswestry] third, with a Willows top weight of 55-4-0 handing fourth to Matt Stobbs [Oak Ang Cent]      

 

                    Nige Clarke [Monkhall] blitzed the opposition on Sunday to record top weight of the week for the second week running. On a wet and windy match, Nige had carp to 6lbs feeding on pellet and corn at peg 38 on the Chestnut Pool and plundered 96-3-0 of them from the 12 metre line, as well as from the inside.

          Gary Gollins [Swan] led the way on the Oak to finish second on 52-9-0. He caught carp to 5lbs on maggot, fished to the stumps at peg 27. Along at peg 22 Kieran Rich [Ind] had 45-8-0 in third, and back on the Chestnut, Gary Morris made the frame again with a fourth best 44-9-0 at peg 7.
