 Boldings report    29-6-16.

The average frame weight  rose again at Boldings Pools this week, with all of the matches being won with well over 100lbs.

The Monday open produced a tie for first place when Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] and Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] each put 126-10-0 on the scales. Both were drawn on point pegs at each end of the spit on the Sycamore Pool. Colin offered pellet at 5 metres and down the side at peg 8 to make a catch of carp to 8lbs, while Phil worked with shallow maggot at peg 13 to take carp to 6lbs.

Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] had his third placed 95-8-0 at peg 24 and at peg 4 Keith Powell [PI Bold] weighed 82-14-0 in fourth.

The Oak Pool fished really well on Wednesday and came up with a 184-6-0 winner for Paul Evans [PI Bold]. Caster, fished shallow at 5 metres as well as in the margins had carp to 7lbs feeding well at peg 27.

Tony Foster [PI Bold] had carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs in his runner up 162-8-0 at peg 16, his fish falling to corn and pellet of the 8 metre line alternated with close in. Phil Shaw made the list again, his 124-15-0 giving him third at Oak 29. Fourth went to an Ash Pool best of 103-10-0 by Steve Owen [Monkhall] at peg 5.

There was almost another tie for first on Thursday when only 6 ounces separated first and second places. It was Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] who managed to edge ahead from peg 33 on the Sycamore, but he needed every one of the carp to 9lbs and bream to 2lbs which his maggot and corn could attract to make up a net of 148-13-0.

Steve Owen was the man pipped at the post, his smaller carp, fish to 8lbs, not being compensated for quite enough by his barbel to 3lbs, which left him on 148-7-0 at Sycamore peg 8. Andy Williams [Vespe] picked up third for his 124-4-0 from peg 47.

The star of the show this week was Harry Colley [PI Bold] who blitzed the Saturday open with a terrific 235-3-0 to establish a winning margin of just over 100lbs. Harry soon settled into a rhythm of hooking and landing carp to 9lbs at Chestnut peg 39 once the starting horn sounded, and feeding corn, pellet and meat in the margins held the interest of the fish all through the match.

Darren Warden [Kings] did his best to stay with the winner, feeding maggot, corn and pellet on the 6 metre line and close in at peg 22 on the Sycamore to attract carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs. It was a lost cause though, and despite landing 134-2-0, Darren finished well behind.  The remaining frame weights also came from the Sycamore, with Simon Christian [Sedgeley] getting third with 104-5-0 from peg 25, and 96-13-0 from peg 4 giving fourth to Dave Brown [Maver].

Point peg 16 on the Larch Pool saw Andy Williams add a first place on Sunday to his Thursday third spot. Combining maggot and corn to work to each side of the peg, and at 5 metres out, had carp to 8lbs coming to the net for a tally of 135-9-0.

Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] had a lot of smaller carp on maggot down the sides  of Deepdale peg 3, with fish of 1lb to 4lbs adding up to 99-6-0. Harry Colley was in the mix again, his level 94-0-0 from Larch peg1 giving him third, just ahead of Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] who had a Stock Pool top score of 92-12-0 at peg 7.

 Boldings report    21-6-16.

Stephan Davies [Tricast] was the first winner of the week at Boldings Pools] when the Monday open was staged on the Stock and Middle pools. Stephan was on the Stock, at peg 10 where he worked close in and at 5 metres, using pellet to build a winning net of carp to 4lbs which totalled 80-12-0.  Jason Atwell [Kingswinford] selected caster as his bait at peg 3 on the Middle to attract carp to 5lbs on the 6 metre line as well as close in. His runner up net weighed 68-7-0. Graham Roberts [PI Boldings] was one fish off second with his 64-9-0 at Stock peg 2, and round at Stock 7 Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] finished off the top four with 58-11-0.

Similar weights filled the frame on Wednesday when the Sycamore Pool hosted the match and Phil Shaw moved up to the top of the list of prize winners by fishing caster in the top layers, with the occasional foray into the margins at peg 16. He found carp to 6lbs accompanied by barbel and bream to 3lbs ready to have a go at his bait, to give a finishing weight of 78-11-0.

Mick Perry [Fitters] finished only 4lbs off the winners pace to scale 74-10-0 for second at peg 4, opposite Mick, Dave Going [Kings] had 64-1-0 to pip multiple recent winner Dave Brown [Maver] on 63-13-0 at peg 34.

Caster was king again on Thursday on the Willows Pool where Andy Sherwood [PI Bold]had a haul of carp to 5lbs on shallow fished  'shells' to put 134-13-0 on the scales for victory at peg 19.

Paul Evans [PI Bold] worked the bait at 6 metres to land 108-3-0 of carp to 8lbs and barbel to 4lbs at peg 22, with Dave Doughty making it a trio of PI Boldings rods with ton weights by scaling 103-11-0 for third at peg 8.

Things were tight in the minor places on the Sycamore on Saturday, behind clear winner Shane Rogers [Oakengates Ang Cent]. He drew peg 24, which he tackled with corn, fished to each side of the peg, a ploy which drew a response from carp in the 8lbs class, which gave a tally of 125-5-0 at the end of the day.

Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent] and Adam Jones [Willenhall AC] were locked in a close battle for second, a battle which Steve won by four ounces. He was on peg 16 and recorded 93-10-0 to fend off Adam, who finished on 93-6-0 at peg 13. Dave Doughty was in the list again, picking fourth this time thanks to 91-12-0 from peg 8.

Best of the week came on Sunday when Dave Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] won from Larch peg 16. Maggot got the carp going on the 6 metre line and built to a final aggregate of 142-8-0.

Shane Rogers added a runner up to his previous days winner by working corn in the side and in the corner for 124-4-0 of carp to 9lbs at Larch 18. Harry Colley was best on the Ash, netting 103-2-0 for third at peg 12, and Dave Brown had another fourth when he scaled 99-7-0 at Ash peg 1.

 Boldings report    15-6-16.

Another week at Boldings Pools brought another double win, and yet another top weight of the week for Maver ace Dave Brown.

His two wins came from each end of the week, and the top weight came at the start, with victory in the Wednesday open in which he almost trebled the runner up weight. Caster fished shallow and to each side of peg 17 on the Chestnut Pool had carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs feeding, and a steady supply of them built into a formidable advantage with a final total of 149-8-0.

The rest of the frame catches all came from the Larch Pool, with Tony Foster [PI Boldings] filling second at peg 21. Carp to 5lbs made up his 53-0-0, which came to pellet at 6 metres. Up at peg 4 Bob Tromans [Fiery Hoes] just got home in third when he weighed in 48-9-0, finishing less than a pound in front of Graham Palmer [Fitters] on 47-10-0 at peg 1.

Graham Roberts [PI Bold] took on the winners mantle on Thursday, winning from peg 8 on the Willows Pool. Feeding caster to each side of the point had carp to 6lbs accompanying barbel to 4lbs in Graham's net to give a 121-3-0 winner.

Second came from the Sycamore when Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] handed over 102-12-0 to the scales at peg 33. Colin caught carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs on corn and pellet, offered at 5 metres and close to the side. Back on the Willows, Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] was one decent fish behind with his 96-7-0 from peg 13, and up in the corner  Alan Naylor [Oakengates Ang Cent] had 93-0-0 to take 4th at peg 22.

Willows peg 8 came up with another winner on Saturday, but Mark Skelton [Oak Ang Cent] had to use different tactics to net a similar weight. He fished across to the far bank with maggot to record 123-9-0, which included carp to 7lbs with barbel to 4lbs.

Peg 22 was in the mix again too, providing 94-14-0 for Adam Jones [WMAC] who had ghosties to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs on pellet, fished to the far bank and close in. A Sycamore top score of 87-4-0 from peg 13 put Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] into third, and 78-1-0 from Sycamore 50 put Colin Reynolds into the prize list again.

Dave Brown picked up his second winners purse on Sunday, when caster proved to be king again. Dave worked the bait at 5 metres and to each side of peg 13 on the Sycamore to pick off carp to 8 lbs and barbel to 3lbs on his way to 113-9-0.

Maggot and corn presented to each side of Sycamore 45 resulted in a net of carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs which gave Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] 84-7-0 and second. Graham Palmer framed again, his 78-13-0 for third coming from peg 45, and just behind him was Chris Holmes [Mid Sev Ang] on 77-4-0 at peg 22.

 Boldings report    8-6-16.

Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] who top weighted at Boldings last week began this weeks matches with a win on the Wednesday open, in which he drew peg 20 on the Beech, where he recorded 95-9-0. The catch consisted of carp in the 7lbs range, all of which Andy enticed with maggot and corn, presented close to the bank on each side of the peg.

Runner up Harry Colley [PI Boldings] was positioned almost opposite the winner at peg 20 and elected to work meat and pellet down the sides of the peg. The ploy brought in bigger fish, but not enough of them, leaving Harry 11lbs shy of the target on 84-10-0. Third and fourth came from the Ash Pool, with Graham Palmer [PI Bold] putting his name on third by weighing in 80-7-0 at peg 7, while Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] had 67-6-0 at peg 9.

With the fish in spawning mode weights were expectedly down on last weeks high levels, but not too much, and 83-2-0 from Chestnut peg 36 gave Phil Rhodes [PI Bold] only a narrow victory on Thursday. Using the pole at 5 metres to offer corn and pellet, Phil made contact with carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs.

Dave Brown [Maver] has been a frame fixture for several weeks now, and made the first of two visits to the prize table this week when he finished one fish behind the winner. Drawn peg 4 on the Sycamore, Dave worked with caster to fish shallow in open water, as well as into the corner. His 80-1-0 final tally was made up with carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs. Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] was one more fish behind at Sycamore peg 13 where he scaled 78-12-0, and Mick Jameson [PI Bold] kept things tight when he weighed 74-12-0 at Sycamore 24.

Dave Brown moved up to first place on Saturday, and having been pipped to top weight of the week last week, he reclaimed the honour this week by recording 99-13-0 at peg 22 on the Sycamore. A change to maggot bait had carp to 6lbs, with bream and barbel to 4lbs feeding on the 6 metre line to give Dave a 20lb winning margin.

Last Saturday's winner Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] filled second with the best return from the Larch Pool, 79-4-0. He was on peg 28 and had carp to 6lbs on pellet and maggot, fished shallow, and down the side. Third came from Sycamore peg 8 where Chris Lloyd [Maver] netted 72-12-0 to hold off Steve Hall [Oswestry] on 70-11-0 at Sycamore 16.

report

On Monday last week Keith Powell [PI Boldings] took a turn at the top of the frame by posting 84-2-0 at Beech peg 11. Combining pellet and corn on the close in line attracted carp to 7lbs to give Keith his win.

Dave Pritchard [PI Bold] coupled maggot and pellet at peg 32 on the same pool to nick second place from Dave Doughty [Woodend]. Pritchard ended the day on 75-14-0, while Doughty, who was on Beech peg 7, finished 10 ounces behind on 75-4-0. Danny Boden [Oakengates Ang Cent] was top man on the Oak Pool, and fourth overall with his 69-10-0 from peg 22.

Dave Pritchard almost doubled his Monday weight to win the Wednesday open. This time he was on the Sycamore Pool, and worked pellet at 5 metres as well as close in at peg 21, where carp to 10lbs helped to figures of 141-6-0.

At peg 16 Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] had all his fish, carp to 7lbs, on pellet on the close in line. He finished the day on 105-12-0 to claim second. Dave Brown [Maver] picked up third from peg 46 where he weighed 98-3-0, and opposite him, at peg 8, Darren Warden [Kings] recorded 85-15-0 in fourth.

Best weight of the week fell to Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] on Thursday when carp to 9lbs together with bream and barbel to 3lbs zeroed in on his close fished maggot and corn to give a return of 164-13-0 at Sycamore peg 34.

Pete Plant [Maver] worked caster at peg 24, fishing both up in the water and down the side to pick off 124-15-0 of carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs. Clive Wynn was in the mix again, his 96-6-0 giving him third at peg 13, just ahead of Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] on 94-10-0 at peg 45.

Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] made a draw on the Larch Pool pay off on Saturday, when weights on the Sycamore dropped back. Shallow caster did the trick at Larch peg 16, pulling in carp to 8lbs, which added up to a 116-13-0 winner.

Keith Powel added a second placing to his earlier win, he topped the Sycamore card with a pellet and corn based 89-3-0 of carp 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs from peg 13. At Sycamore 40 Dave Lloyd [Maver] scaled 74-10-0 in third, with Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] rounding things off with a level 61-0-0.

Sunday saw the Willows and Chestnut pools in action and Steve Hall [Oswestry] grabbed his chance of victory with a shallow caster attack at Willows peg 4. He found carp to 6lbs with the bait and put together a net of 117-3-0.

Over at peg 22 Graham Palmer [Fitters] used bread, maggot and pellet to hold the interest of the fish in his swim. Fishing across to the far side and down the side , Graham landed carp to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs on his way to 100-13-0. Best on the Chestnut was Dave Craggs [Maver] who took third with 97-3-0 from peg 18. Fourth also came from the Chestnut when Scott Harding [Ind] scaled 89-6-0 at peg 26.

Carp, bream and barbel all featured in the Bank Holliday winner posted by Dave Brown [Maver] at Willows peg 12. Caster at 5 metres got the attention of the fish to give Dave a return of 153-11-0.

Pete Plant had another 100lb net and had to settle for second again. He had carp and bream on caster at Willows peg 9 to weigh 100-6-0. Up at peg 19 94-15-0 handed third to Tim Cadwallader [Matrix] while a Sycamore best of 88-2-0 put Les Thompson [Matrix] in to fourth.
