Boldings report

Boldings report    29-4-15.

Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] kicked the week off at Boldings Pools with a big weight winner on the Beech Pool by knocking out carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs, using pellet in the side at corner peg 11. As the match progressed he eased 30lbs ahead of the opposition, finishing the day on 132-9-0.

Round at peg 32 Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] had bigger carp, with samples to 7lbs, with bream to 2lbs, on a combination of pellet and maggot, but a slower catch rate left him on 101-5-0 at the whistle. Kevin Melville [Matrix] and Jason Nichols [PI Boldings] shared third when they each scaled 87-12-0, Kev at peg 7 and Jason at peg 9.

Kevin Melville moved up to top spot on a slightly subdued Larch Pool on Wednesday. Pellet and corn, fished down the side and at 5 metres found carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs which added up to 79-14-0.

Andy Sherwood [PI Bold] also worked pellet and corn at peg 1, to take fish from close in and out at 10 metres. His mix of carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs gave a return of 62-9-0. Bob Tromans was on the card again, filling third with 58-3-0 from peg 24, with fourth going to 50-13-0 by Mick Jameson [PI Bold] at peg 4.

Terry Edwards [Swan Elite] converted a second last Thursday to a first this week after he pulled Sycamore 16 from the drawbag. Switching between the 10 metre line and fishing the margins, Terry kept enough carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs coming to the net to hold off a strong challenge from Ken Humphries [Oswestry]. Ken was on Sycamore peg 50 catching carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs on maggot, and at the finish there was only one fish difference between the weights as Terry recorded 119-5-0 to Kens 112-0-0.

Third went to Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] who was close behind on 107-6-0 at Sycamore 24, and Eric Bancroft was in the frame again with a Chestnut best of 92-10-0 for fourth.

Dave Brown [Maver] has had a couple of near misses lately, but made no mistake in scoring a week-end double, and recording the top weight of the week.

Saturday saw Dave in action on the Willows Pool, using his shallow fished maggot and caster to net 118-12-0 of carp to 6lbs at peg 19.

That was a little too good for Jamie Langford [Wolves] who finished second with the best of three close weights. He was on Willows peg 13 and fished pellet waggler to net 105-11-0 of carp to 7lbs. Colin Reynolds made the frame again, finishing only two ounces behind second with a Larch Pool best of 105-9-0, and back on the Willows Morgan Davidson [Oakengates Ang Cent] scaled 103-9-0 for fourth at peg 4.

The Chestnut Pool really hit form on Sunday to give a fame average of over 150lbs per rod, and with carp in the 7lbs bracket making up dave Browns big total of 186-5-0, he was only two fish short of recording 200lbs. Shallow maggot and caster worked again to put dave in charge at peg 36.

Colin Wozek [Matrix] caught well on shallow pellet at peg 1 to put 164-6-0 of carp to 6lbs on the scales in second place. Matt Prosser [PI Bold] nipped into third at peg 10 when his 132-13-0 pipped the 132-9-0 by Rob Lloyd [Maver] at peg 23.

Boldings report

Boldings report    22-4-15.

Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] enjoyed a double delight at Boldings Pools this week when he recorded match wins on Monday and Wednesday.

Monday saw Andy drawn on peg 5 on the Willows Pool and catching carp to 7lbs as well as barbel to 4lbs, which he built into a 123-14-0 winning total. Corn and maggot had the fish feeding on the 5 metre line as well as close in to the side.

Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] found the fish at peg 18 running a little smaller than the winners, with samples to 6lbs and 3lbs taking his pellet bait. The lower average size left Colin short of the target on 109-3-0. At peg 13 Owen Boswell [Shrewsbury] had 101-1-0 in third, with Godfrey Wood [Shrews] 4th on 92-5-0 at peg 19.

The action moved to the Larch Pool on Wednesday when the corn and maggot combination did the trick for Williams again, this time bringing carp to 8lbs to the net for a total of 135-5-0 at peg 14.

Round at peg 24 Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] worked shallow pellet but could not keep up with the winners catch rate, falling nearly 45lbs behind to finish on 91-9-0. Harry Colley [PI Bold] was only 5ounces short of second with his 91-4-0 at peg 1, leaving Alan Weston [Gunmakers] to complete the frame with a level 70-0-0.

On Thursday 124lbs was only good enough for fourth place behind top weight of the week 165-1-0 by Dave Lloyd [Maver]. Alternating shallow caster with maggot in the margins, Dave kept in touch with carp to 8lbs at peg 30 on the Chestnut to beat the challenge of Terry Edwards [Kings] who was on Sycamore peg 13. Fishing pellet at 5 metres and maggot in the side, Terry included barbel to 3lbs with carp to 7lb I his 146-4-0.

Harry Colley was third again, this time with 130-7-0 from Sycamore 22, and at Sycamore 25 Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] had a level 124-0-0 in fourth.

The Chestnut Pool came up with the winner again on Saturday when Paul Wheeler [PI Bold] offered pellet to the island, and close to the bank, at peg 26. Carp to 7lbs responded to give Paul a return of 97-6-0 which put him top of the days card.

Colin Reynolds picked up his second runners up pay-out of the week, when he headed the weights on the Sycamore. Carp to 7lbs, barbel to 3lbs and bream to 2lbs all featured in Colin’s 85-5-0 at peg 39. Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] was a close third at Sycamore 45, where he scaled 84-8-0. Fourth went to Scott Doodson [Maver] on 71-6-0 at Chestnut 16.

Fishing pellet and maggot to each side of the point at Sycamore 13, and out at 5 metres gave Eric Bancroft his second frame appearance, and victory in the Sunday open. Carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs made up a winning 146-5-0 for Eric, and a clear margin over runner up Dave Brown [Maver]. Dave was on peg 22 and fished caster and maggot up in the water as well as in the margins to net 108-10-0, Peg 40 saw Colin Wozek [Matrix] net 85-4-0 for third and an Oak best of 82-12-0 gave 4th to Dave Hailey [PI Bold].
