Boldings report

Boldings report    17-3-15.

Owen Boswell [Shrewsbury] notched up his second win of the year at Boldings Pools last Monday, and did it with the top weight of the week, 113-7-0, which he took from peg 7 on the Beech Pool. The catch of carp to 7lbs, came to maggot, fished down the shelf.

Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] fished to the paddles, and at 5 metres to offer pellet and corn at Beech 20 to net 85-3-0 of carp to 6 lbs. Third placed Colin Wozek [Matrix] had 69-4-0 at peg 18 and at peg 29 Mick Jameson [PI Boldings] picked up 4th with his 39-14-0.

Three PI Boldings rods filled the frame on Wednesday on the Acorn Pool, led by Tony Foster. He had carp to 6lbs on pellet and corn, fished at 5 metres and down the side, to win with 64-2-0 at peg 10.

Mick Jameson moved up to second by weighing 47-9-0 at peg 3, with Phil Shaw close behind on 46-10-0 at peg 1.

The Chestnut Pool outshone the Sycamore on Thursday, producing the top two catches of the day. Steve Owen [Monkhall] was top man with 96-12-0 from Chestnut peg 32, which accepted a maggot and pellet combination.

At peg 28 Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] combined corn and maggot for a 68-5-0 net of carp and bream to claim second. Best on the Sycamore was Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] whose 60-14-0 from peg 16 put him into third. Fourth came from the Oak when John Wild [Stafford] recorded 59-4-0 at peg 8.

Clive Wynn moved up to first on Saturday when the Sycamore proved best. Clive was on peg 4, and had carp to 6lbs in a total of 82-3-0, which he tempted with maggot and pellet at 6 and 8 metres.

Pellet and corn, close in and at 10 metres put 72-5-0 on the scales at Sycamore 24 to give Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] second. Third man Paul Wheeler [PIB] was best on the Larch with 60-12-0 at peg 8, and back on the Sycamore, at peg 8 Rob Brennan [PIB] had 58-13-0 in fourth.

Colin Reynolds was in the frame again on Sunday, finishing top of the list from peg 29 on the Oak Pool. Pellet and corn found carp to 5lbs on the 5 metre line as well as close in, to put 67-6-0 in the net for victory.

Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent] fished maggot into the corner at Oak peg 1 to finish less than 5lbs behind on 62-8-0. Dave Barnard [Rod & Gun] was only 7 ounces behind second with his Sycamore best of 62-1-0 at peg 4, and a Willows best of 59-8-0 gave Jack O’Sullivan [Oak Ang Cent] 4th.

Boldings report

Boldings report    10-3-15.

Having finished second on the Monday open at Boldings last week, Dave Doughty [Woodend]  upped his game this week to move into first place. Pegged on the Hawthorn Pool at number 3, Dave offered maggot to bag 48-1-0 of carp for victory.

Richard Duke [Middle Severn Angling] moved up from 4th last week to fill second this time with his Middle Pool best of 38-6-0 from 11. Third place was closely contested between Mick Jameson [PI Boldings] and Keith Powell [PI Bold]. With Jameson just nicking it with 28-7-0 from Hawthorn 7, with Powell 3 ounces behind on 28-4-0 at Hawthorn 13.

There was nothing close about Mick Jameson’s finish on Wednesday, as he gave himself a 35lb winning margin on the Ash Pool.

Peg 16 held carp to 6lbs, which Mick tempted with maggot and pellet, which he presented at 5 metres to make a haul of 75-8-0.

Along at peg 20 last Wednesdays winner Clive Wynn [Weston Pools] worked maggot at 6 metres to finish second this time with 40-2-0 of carp 5lbs. In between the top two, at peg 18, Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] nipped into third with 31-12-0, just ahead of Tony Foster [PI Bold] on 31-8-0 at peg 22.

Mick Keene [ABC] fell one fish short of a ton up bag on Thursday as he led the way from peg 18 on the Beech, where maggot at 14 metres contacted carp to 7lbs. At the whistle Mick had netted 98-5-0 for a clear win.

Clive Wynn had another second placing, this time with an Oak Pool top score of 72-11-0, which fell to maggot at 12 metres, and close to the paddles at peg 3. Graham Roberts [PI Bold] was top man on the Hawthorn, and third overall with 57-3-0 from peg 7, and back on the Beech Colin Roberts [Bilston Ang Cent] had 52-3-0 for fourth at peg 23.

Reynolds was up to first place on Saturday when his 75-1-0 from Willows peg 16 was too good for three weights from the Chestnut. Colin used maggot and pellet for a net of Willows carp to 6lbs.

Jason Atwell [Kingswinford] and Dave Lloyd [Maver] both weighed 52-13-0 to share second, Jason had his from Chestnut 38 and Dave from Chestnut 32. Just behind them, on 50-4-0 at Chestnut was Shane Rogers [Oakengates Ang Cent].

The 100lbs barrier was finally broken for the first time in 2015 on Sunday when the rain failed to prevent Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] making the breakthrough.

He was on Oak Peg 8 which responded to corn and maggot, which Andy fished at 6 metres as well as close in, tactics which gave a regular supply of carp to 7lbs which built into a 112-7-0 total.

Along at Oak peg 13 Dave Hailey [PI Bold] caught on maggot at 5 metres and in the side to net 88-11-0 of carp to 6lbs to fill second. Over on the end of the dam Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] scaled 65-10-0 in third, while a Sycamore top weight of 61-13-0 gave fourth to Scott Doodson [Preston Innov].
