Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  30-4-14.

Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] was a double winner at Boldings Pools this week, collecting the main prize on the Monday and Saturday opens.

Mondays victory came from the Oak Pool when Harry drew peg 13 and decided on a pellet and maggot attack, feeding at 5 metres and down the edge. Carp to 7lbs and barbel to 2lbs homed in on the bait to give the top weight of the week, 103-7-0.

On the Willows Pool, at peg 5, Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] chose a pellet and maggot combination, feeding at 6 metres and close to the bank. Ghost carp moved in on his peg, with samples to 6lbs adding up to 87-9-0 to give Eric second place.

Back on the Oak, opposite the winner at peg 27, Richard Duke [BAS] finished a close third by scaling 84-12-0, with last Sundays winner Harry Colley [PI Boldings] claiming fourth at Willows peg 19 where he scaled 78-2-0.

The Ash Pool provided the top two weights on Wednesday, and it was a mix of carp to 7lbs with bream to 2lbs which put Ian Morris [Oakengates Ang Cent] at the top of the list. He was on peg 5 where he alternated pellet at 8metres with corn down the side to maintain his catch rate for a final return of 82-11-0.

Down at peg 23 Matt Stobbs [Oak Ang Cent] fished up in the water with pellet to net an all carp 73-13-0, made up with fish from 1lb to 4lbs.

Third and fourth came from the Beech where Paul Wheeler [PI Bold]just got the better of Phil Shaw [PI Bold] in a close battle.  Paul finished on 65-10-0 at peg 32 and at peg 16 Phil had 64-4-0.

Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] kept his run of victories going with a win on Thursday from peg 39 on the Sycamore. Carp to 8lbs joined bream to 3lbs in Andy’s net, having been tempted by maggot and corn, fished to each side of the peg. At the whistle they gave a total of 96-5-0 for a winning margin of 13lbs.

Runner up Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] worked caster, close in and up in the water at peg 16 on the Oak, to end the day with 83-6-0 of carp to 6lbs.

Up by the island, at Oak 22 Ian Krull [Wolves] finished on 77-9-0 to pick up third ahead of Adam Slade [Sedgeley] on 66-4-0 at Sycamore 13.

Saturday saw Colin Reynolds complete his double from peg 48 on the Sycamore. This time he decided on a pellet and corn approach, offering pellet at 3 metres and corn down the side to fool carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs, to record another clear win by scaling 98-1-0.

Up at peg 24 Brian Preece [BAS] used shallow caster for a runner up 71-9-0 of carp to 8lbs, which put him well clear of Alan Naylor [Oak Ang Cent] on 56-3-0 at peg 40. Jamie Potts [Oak Ang Cent] completed the frame with 52-2-0 at peg 50.

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  22-4-14.

Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] added a mid-week win to his Sunday wins of the past two weeks when he headed the Wednesday card at Boldings Pools with a Beech Pool catch of 84-6-0 at peg 16. carp to 6lbs responded to a combination of shallow fished bread, alternated with maggot in the margins, which put 84-6-0 on the scales.

At peg 5 on the Beech Joe Brennan [PI Boldings] worked the 5 metre line with pellet to net 64-5-0 of carp to 5lbs. On a strangely subdued Ash Pool 54-5-0 gave third to Phil Shaw [PI Bold] at peg 7 and at Ash 14 Keith Powell [PI Bold] picked up 4th with 51-9-0.

Not for the first time this year Ken Humphreys [ABC Oswestry] had top weight of the week. He drew Chestnut peg 16 and went to work with pellet at 5 metres and maggot close to the bank, where carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs were lurking. After a busy 5 hours Ken had slipped the net under a total of 141-5-0.

The remaining frame weights came from the Sycamore, where Paul Evans PI Bold] led the way from peg 34. caster and maggot on the close in line attracted carp to 6lbs, with barbel to 3lbs to tot up to 97-6-0. At peg 24 Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] finished one fish behind on 91-7-0 with Pete Davidson [Oakengates Ang Cent] 4th at peg 31 with 83-4-0.

The Chestnut gave the winner again on Saturday when Sean Barber [Maver Midlands] used pellet, fished to the island, to ease ahead of the field, netting carp to 6lbs on his way to 85-13-0 at peg 21.

Second came from the Sycamore again, peg 25 giving Alan Naylor [Oak Ang Cent] a return of 62-0-0 on his pellet and maggot at 5 metres and in the edge.

Back on the Chestnut Pete Jones [Oak Ang] recorded 55-11-0 for third at peg 18 and close behind him was Brian Clarke [Colmic Marukyu] on 52-6-0 at peg 15.

Keith Powell swapped his Wednesday fourth for a Good Friday first after drawing Oak peg 13 and hauling out 116-7-0 of carp to 8lbs, which he drew into his swim with close in maggot. Harry Colley [PI Bold] fell just of the 100lbs mark when the scales stopped at 99-7-0 at peg 16. Harry caught on pellet and meat at 7 metres. Adam Slade [Sedgley] was on Oak 8 and weighed 92-4-0 to collect third, leaving Kevin Melville [Matrix TA] to finish the frame at peg 29 where he scaled 73-12-0.

Harry Colley stepped up a place on Sunday to claim the top prize after he drew on the Oak again. This time he was on the end of the dam, where his pellet and meat in the edge, and at 5 metres, found carp to 8lbs for an 81-14-0 winner.

Dave Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] was top man on the Willows with a pellet and maggot based mix of carp and barbel for 74-3-0 at peg 4. Oak peg 16 featured again, giving Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] 73-2-0 for a close third, and 66-12-0 from Oak peg 1 put Steve Woodhall [Oak Ang] into fourth.
