BOLDINGS REPORT
The back pools offered some shelter from the gales at Boldings Pools and the Stock Pool gave Simon Richardson [Maver] a Christmas Eve victory after he tackled peg 3 with a maggot and corn combination. Fishing at 13 metres and close into the side Simon made contact with carp to 6lbs as he built a winning net of 60-1-0.
At peg 1 Terry Edwards [Kings] fished down the side and at 5 metres with maggot to net carp from 1lb to 4lbs which gave a total of 50-10-0 for second. Darren Wardell [Kings] was on the other side of the pool, at peg 10 where 38-1-0 gave him third ahead of Tim Kibble [Swan] who weighed
Stock peg 3 provided the winner again on Boxing Day, this time for Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe]. He dispensed with maggot to concentrate on presenting corn down the side and at 12 metres, and while the carp were generally a little smaller than on Christmas Eve, with samples to 5lbs, he had more of them to scale 62-10-0.
Runner up Danny Boden [Oakengates Ang Cent] stuck to maggot at Beech peg 17 and had carp to 6lbs together with roach to a pound for 51-8-0. Scott Doodson [Preston Innovations] had the best weight from the Hawthorn to fill third place, his 47-6-0 coming from peg 11. Back on the Stock Dave Craggs [Maver] picked up fourth thanks to 42-3-0 from peg 7.
The Middle Pool gave the first three weights on Friday, when Rob Hancox [Kings] ran out a clear winner. He drew peg 10 and eased away from the opposition with carp to 5lbs accepting his maggot bait, offered at 8metres. By the end of the match 57-11-0 had been dropped into Rob’s net.
In the corner at peg 1 Mark Taylor [Shakespeare] also fished maggot, taking fish on the 7 metre line as well as into the corner, but he couldn’t match the winner, finishing on a level 34-0-0. Matt Stockton [Maver Midlands] added a third on this match to his Fur & Feather triumph by scaling
The honours for the final Saturday of the year went to Nathan Spain [Matrix Total Angling] who won from peg 8 on the Sycamore. Working maggot to each side of the point found carp in the 1lb to 3lbs bracket in the rough conditions, and at the whistle an aggregate of 41-8-0 put Nathan at the head of the prize list.
Scott Doodson had another pool best, which this time put him into second spot. He opted to fish the lead at Willows peg 17 and had carp to 4lbs with barbel to 3lbs in his 35-0-0. Sean Barber [Maver Sonubaits] was another man with a pool best, his Chestnut top score of
