Boldings report
BOLDINGS REPORT 29-5-13.
Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] started a successful week at Boldings Pools with a win on the Monday affordable open on the Oak Pool, after he drew point peg 29. Fishing shallow pellet, alternated with a close in approach, put Eric in touch with carp to 6lbs, resulting in a 90-14-0 total.
At peg 31 Keith Powell [PI Boldings] had all his fish on the close in line using maggot, and included carp to 8lbs in a runner up 74-6-0. Over on the end of the dam, Brad Parkes [Chase Angling] scaled 70-4-0 in third, leaving Mick Jameson [PI Bold] on 66-11-0 at peg 27 to pick up 4th.
Weights on Wednesday defied the cold conditions and 100lbs was only good enough for third. Top catch came from the Larch Pool and fell to Colin Wozek [Matrix Total Angling] at peg 16. Shallow pellet had the fish feeding well and Colin put together 149-10-0, made up with carp to 7lbs.
Not far behind the winner, with the best of three catches from the Chestnut, was Ian Hughes [Drennan NW] at peg 28. He also operated with shallow pellet, and had carp to 7lbs, mixed with bream to 2lbs, to finish on an even 144-0-0.
At peg 30 Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] netted 100-10-0 to finish third, ahead of Keith Miller [New Willenhall] on 94-7-0 at peg 21.
Ken Humphries [Oswestry] had the first of two wins when he took the honours on a cold and windy Thursday on the Sycamore. Fishing pellet, corn and maggot to each side of the point on peg 13, Ken found carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs on his way 90-5-0.
Shallow pellet worked for Clive Wright [Mosella] at peg 48, yielding 80-10-0 of carp to 7lbs for second. Eric Bancroft had the second of his three pick ups when he scaled 77-7-0 at peg 8, and just behind him was another Rod & Gun man, Dave Barnard on 75-12-0 at peg 39.
Peg 13 proved to be anything but unlucky again for Ken Humphries on Saturday when he drew 13 on the Oak Pool, and won again, this time in warm and sunny conditions. His weight differed by only 6 ounces, and it was carp and barbel that made up his catch again, with samples to 5lbs and 2lbs, respectively giving a final score of 89-15-0.
Harry Colley [PI Bold] offered pellet and meat close in at Oak peg 8, and he too had carp and barbel in his second placed 84-10-0. At Larch peg 1 Mitch Davidson [MTA] weighed in 82-9-0 for third and back on the Oak Mark Taylor [Shakespeare] had 78-8-0 in 4th.
Harry Colley moved up from second to first place in style on Sunday when his pellet and meat combination put more carp and barbel in his net, with fish to 9lbs and 3lbs coming from peg 21 on the Sycamore. Switching between the 5 metre line, and close in kept Harry in touch with the fish, to give a return of 148-2-0.
On the Larch, at peg 22, close in maggot tactics handed second to Kelvin Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] with a weight of 137-5-0. Mitch Davidson drew Larch 1 again and finished third again, this time with 135-1-0, and a Chestnut best of 122-0-0 gave Phil Taylor [Dan & Locks] 4th.
Much cooler conditions for the Bank Holiday Monday match on the Chestnut brought the weights down, but gave a close finish, with less than three pound between first and third. Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] edged two pounds clear at Chestnut 37 with a pellet and corn based mix of carp and bream for 89-8-0.
Similar tactics at peg 1 were used by Ed Turner [PI Bold] who finished one fish short of the winner on 87-6-0. Morgan Davidson [Colmic] had 86-13-0 from peg 35 and Eric Bancroft rounded off his week with a fourth by scaling 81-6-0 at peg 18.
