Carl Foster (Preston Innovations Boldings) picked up the top prize on Monday at Boldings Pools, winning the ‘affordable’ from peg 8 on the Hawthorn Pool. Pellet and corn in the side did the trick for Carl, bringing in carp to 8lbs fro a total of 80-11-0.

Pete Davidson (Oakengates Ang Cent ) was best man on the Beech to finish second overall on 77-8-0. He had his fish, carp to 7lbs, on maggot and pellet at 5 metres and close in at peg 20.

Carp in the 1lb to 3lbs range fell to shallow fished pellet, and were backed up by better samples to 6lbs on corn down the side to give a final tally of 131-2-0.

Mel Kitson was in the mix again, picking up second this time thanks to 86-10-0 from Chestnut 30. Mel had carp to 7lbs with bream to 3lbs on pellet and corn. Rino Stanko (Oak Ang Cent) netted 81-7-0 for third and Last weeks winner Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) had 74-10-0 in 4th.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) found his winning touch again on Saturday and topped the ton from Beech peg 32 to win with 102-13-0. Shallow pellet, combined with paste and corn in the margins brought carp to lbs to the net.

Andy Williams (Vespe) was second on the day with a Sycamore best of 91-5-0 from peg 13. Maggot and corn accounted for carp to 8lbs in Andy’s net.

Mark Lloyd (Oak Ang Cent) pipped Gareth Emlyn (Oak Ang Cent) to 3rd by 82-14-0 to 82-7-0.

League leader Gary Morris failed to score any points on the final match but had done just enough to take the August title with 16 points. Gareth Emlyn was just one behind on 15, and the aggregate weights were close too with Gary having 250-0-0 for the month and Gareth 244-12-0. Pete Ricketts was third with 12 points.

Josh Humphries (Weston Pools) had 70-9-0 at hawthorn 5 for third and 64-14-0 from Hawthorn 3 gave Harry Colley (PI Boldings) fourth.

Pellet at 4metres and to each side of the point at Sycamore peg 8 saw Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) take charge of the Wednesday open, with carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs adding up to 103-3-0.

Round at corner peg 18 Tony Foster (PI Bold) had carp and barbel on pellet at 7 metres and corn close in for figures of 82-13-0 which gave him second prize.

Close behind, in third was Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Ang Cent) who had a Chestnut top weight of 81-2-0 from peg 30, and following him with the first of three placings for the week was Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) on 78-0-0 at Sycamore 48.

Pete Ricketts moved up to top spot on Thursday with a shallow pellet approach at Sycamore 34 which put a net full of carp to 4lbs on the scales for 118-9-0.

Carl Foster (PI Bold) followed his brother Tonys example from the previous day to finish second. He was top man on the Chestnut when he scaled 101-6-0 at peg 13, the catch coming to corn and pellet in the corner at peg 13.

Matt Stobbs drew the same peg as the day before, Chestnut 30, and finished third again, this time with a level 91-0-0. Back on the Sycamore John Edwards (Oswestry) had 83-11-0 for third at peg 31.

On Saturday Tony Foster added a first to his Wednesday second place by banking the top weight of the week, 129-12-0. Corn and pellet at 5 metres and close in found carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs at peg 33 on the Sycamore for a clear win.

Dave Matson (Rod & Gun) mixed barbel to 2lbs with carp to 9lbs at Sycamore 8, taking fish from the 4metre line and from the margins for a total of 86-5-0.

Graham Palmer (Fitters) recorded 79-7-0 at peg 50 for third and Lee Atwell (Kingswinford) had 76-2-0 for 4th at peg 48.

Fishing paste and pellet at 5metres and in the side, Pete took an all carp haul of 106-14-0, which featured fish to 8lbs.

The three remaining frame places were filled from pegs on the Willows Pool, where Pete Plant led the way with 92-7-0 for second overall. As usual for Pete his catch came to shallow caster, which accounted for carp to 5lbs at peg 9.

Gary Morris (PI Bold) took third, making him the only angler to pick up August league points on all of the months matches so far. He scaled 89-15-0 at peg 17 and was followed by Mark Lloyd (Oak Ang Cent) on 81-8-0 at peg 11.

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  16/8/11.

The weeks programme at Boldings began with an Oak Tree open on Monday with Keith Miller (New Willenhall) improving on his Wednesday runner up of last week, to score a narrow win. He was on peg 1 and fished to the dam wall on his left and into the corner on his right, using pellet to net 91-12-0 of carp to 7lbs.

Last Mondays winner Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) was close behind with a shallow pellet catch of carp for 89-15-0 at peg 5.

At point peg 29 Graham Evason (Preston Innov Boldings) picked up third with 80-9-0 and at peg 24 Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) had a level 66-0-0 in 4th.

Phil Shaw moved back up to top spot on Wednesday using shallow pellet again, this time at Beech peg 11. A steady supply of carp to 4lbs added up to 102-10-0 at the whistle.

Three weights from the Hawthorn filled the remaining places, led by 89-4-0 by Carl Foster (PI Boldings) who fished corn and pellet at 4 metres and close in for carp to 7lbs at peg 13.

Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Ang Cent) left with third prize after weighing 76-1-0 leaving Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) to round off the day with 70-6-0 for 4th.

Thursday produced the best frame with the top five all beating the 100lbs mark. Best of the bunch was Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) who put together 129-6-0 at peg 36 on the Sycamore where carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs sought out Erics maggot and pellet feed, fished close in.

Dave Matson (R&G) followed up his successes of last week with a second on this match. He was on Sycamore peg 8 and had carp and barbel on pellet to each side of the peg to weigh 118-7-0.

Third placed Andy Williams (Vespe) was top man on the Chestnut, scaling 114-3-0 at peg 21 to just beat Gareth Emlyn (Oak Ang Cent) on 114-0-0 at Sycamore 33.

Saturday was much slower and 72-0-0 from Beech peg 7 secured the winners purse for Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure). Mick’s catch consisted of carp to 7lbs and fell to pellet close in and at 4 metres.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) offered pellet to the weed bed and at 13 metres in open water at Larch peg 3. One more fish would have made all the difference as Andy finished on 67-6-0 having netted carp to 5lbs.

At the next peg (4) Steve Hall (Oswestry) was another angler needing one more fish when he saw the scales settle at 66-13-0, leaving him in third, with Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) 4th on 62-4-0 at Larch 15.

Oakengates Angling Centre rods filled the top three places on Sunday, with Steve Giles taking top catch of the week for maximum Preston Innovations league points.

Pegged on the Sycamore at number 24, Steve worked maggot and corn to each side to pick off carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs to build his 131-6-0 winner.

Over on the Ash Pool Gareth Emlyn had carp to 7lbs on maggot for 93-7-0 to finish second. Back on the Sycamore John Palfrey completed the Oakengates trio with 93-1-0 from peg 16. Mick Jameson followed up his Saturday win with a fourth on this match, scaling 89-6-0 at Sycamore 13.
