BOLDINGS REPORT 19/10/10.

 

          There were wins at both ends of the week at Boldings Pools for Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) who is currently enjoying a good run at his favourite venue.

          Eric recorded top weight of the week on Monday when the action centered on the Oak Pool. He was on peg 16 and worked with shallow pellet tactics for a haul of carp to 7lbs totaling 98-4-0.

          Over in the corner on the dam wall, Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) fished close in with corn and pellet to put together his runner up 80-4-0, which included carp to 6lbs. Fellow MTA rod Martin Travis followed in the frame by scaling 63-7-0 at point peg 29 and Gary Morris (OB Wolves) had 54-4-0 at peg 22 in fourth.

 

          The Hawthorn and Stock pools were used on Wednesday and both pools featured in the frame, with the Hawthorn providing a winning net for Brian Clarke (Maver Midlands).

          Fishing pellet to the island and at 4 metres Brian picked off carp to 5lbs to head a close frame with 61-14-0.

          Kevin Melville picked up another second with his Stock pool top score of 57-14-0, which he took on pellet at 12 metres and in the side.

          Back on the Hawthorn Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) claimed third with 56-3-0 from peg three and Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) on 48-15-0 at Stock 7 was 4^th.

 

          Chris Holmes (Middle Severn Angling has had a few near misses recently, but hit the mark on Thursday in another tight frame. He drew Ash peg 7 and decided on a maggot attack, fishing at 5 metres and in the margins. The decision paid off to give a level 83-0-0 of carp to 7lbs, which was just enough to put Chris ahead of man of the moment Carl Foster (OB Wolves) by 10 ounces.

          Multiple winner Carl was on Beech peg 32 where pellet at 8 metres and in the side put carp to 8lbs in the net for his 82-6-0.

          Dave Barnard (R&G) made another regular frame appearance, filling third spot with 75-3-0 from Ash 14, and Eric Bancroft made his second visit of the week to the prize list by weighing 71-0-0 at Oak peg 8. 

         

          Kelvin Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) picked up a first on Saturday when his pellet offerings at Chestnut peg 14 helped him to a 79-1-0 which relegated Dave Matson (R&G) to yet another second place. He was Chestnut 9 and fell just under 8lbs short when the scales settled at 71-7-0.

          A willows Pool best of 70-13-0 gave Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) third at peg 5 and 4^th also came from the Willows when John Francis (R&G) scaled 68-14-0 at peg 13.

 

          The frost on Sunday had little effect on the Boldings open and Eric Bancroft came close to matching the top weight of the week which he set on Monday. This time he was on the Chestnut Pool and alternated between the 4 metre line and in the margins to each side of the peg, using pellet. Carp in the 1lb to 6lbs range obliged to give figures of 96-12-0.

          John Francis drew the Willows again and moved up to second place with carp to 5lbs and bream to 4lbs added up to 81-0-0 at peg 17.

          Chris Holmes was back in the frame and so was Willows peg 13, as Chris scaled 69-9-0 for third. BOLDINGS REPORT 4/10/10.

 

          Eddie Edwards (Dorset Pools) was the first winner of the week at Boldings Pools when three pegs in a row on the Chestnut gave the top three weights on Monday.

          Eddie was on peg 30 and presented pellet and corn down the shelf to find carp to 7lbs for a level 63-0-0 at the whistle.

          Mick Plant had fish of a similar size to Eddies left, at peg 32 on pellet and meat, fished at 8 metres, but finished 8lbs shy of the winner on 55-0-0.

          To Eddies right Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) followed up his two wins on the previous two Mondays with a third on this match. He was on peg 28 and scaled 50-1-0, leaving graham Evason (OB Wolves) to finish off the frame with 46-11-0 at peg 17.

 

          On Wednesday the Foster boys took over at Boldings, with brothers Phil, Tony and Carl (all OB Wolves) taking the top three places.

          Phil fished pellet at 5 metres and in the edge at Hawthorn peg 13 to pull steadily clear of the others, with carp to 8lbs adding up to 103-3-0.

          At Hawthorn 11 Tony fished to the island and close in to net 71-8-0 of carp to 6lbs to claim second, with Carl just behind on 69-1-0 at hawthorn 7.

          Gary Morris had a Beech Pool best of 51-7-0 for 4^th.

 

          On Thursday the Chestnut Pool came up with a winner for Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) who included barbel with carp to 7lbs at peg 21 in a winning total of 97-1-0. Corn and pellet was the successful bait combo for Ralph, which he fished close in and at 5 metres.

          Chestnut 30 featured again, filling second place when Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun( scaled 83-8-0, a catch taken on pellet, fished down the shelf. Close behind dave, with a Sycamore best of 81-10-0 was Ted Ecclestone (Stafford) at peg 33, and back on the Chestnut Colin Reynolds put in another appearance with a 4^th placed 76-1-0 at peg 35.

 

          Tony Foster was back on Saturday to add yet another ‘best of the week’ weight to his ever growing list. Fishing pellet, up in the water at Ash peg 18, he was kept busy with carp from 1lb to 5lbs, as he built a brilliant winter winner of 155-14-0.

          Pete Plant (Maver Midlands) led a trio of Beech Pool weights which completed the top four. He was on peg 18 and used his favourite shallow caster method for a haul of 115-14-0, which included carp to 8lbs.

          On peg 32 Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) had an even 82-0-0 for third ahead of Steve Roberts (Oakengates Ang Cent) on 77-13-0 at peg 23.

 

          Andy Bayliss-Kyte moved up from third to first on Sunday when the carp at peg 18 on the ash responded to his shallow maggot approach, and a succession of fish to 7lbs topped his net up to 137-14-0.

          Over on ash 9 Eric Bancroft (R&G) fished close in and down the shelf with pellet to claim second with 104-3-0. BOLDINGS REPORT 4/10/10.

 

          Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang cent) made it two Monday wins on the trot at Boldings, and for the second week running he was followed in the frame by Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun). Colin drew peg 13 on the Oak and found carp to 5lbs with barbel to 1lb fishing pellet at 5 metres and in the side to scale 88-2-0.

          Eric was at the back of the island on peg 22 where maggot in the side and pellet at 6 metres put carp to 6lbs in the net for a total of 68-6-0.

          On the point by the tree Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) netted 63-2-0 for third with 4^th going to Graham Evason (OB Wolves) on 59-6-0 at peg 8.

 

          Gary Morris (OBW) moved up from third last Wednesday to first this week on the Hawthorn Pool. Pellet at 11 metres and in the side attracted carp to 10lbs to the peg to give Gary a winning haul of 85-9-0.

          Carl Foster (OBW) has been recording top weight of the week on a regular basis time now at Boldings, but his run came to an end this week, with second on this match being his best result. He was on peg 15 and had 72-14-0 on pellet at 6 metres and in the side.

          Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) picked up third with 69-7-0 at peg 11 and Phil Foster (OBW) made it two family members in the frame with 65-4-0 for 4^th at peg 13.

 

          Ed Turner (OBW) found his winning touch again on Thursday with a mix of carp and bream from peg 16 on the Chestnut. Taking fish from the 6 metre line and from close in, Ed put 98-1-0 on the scales, made up with carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs.

          Last Saturdays winner Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) was up towards the island at peg 21 on the same pool and fished to the island as well as in the margins with corn and pellet, to net 82-14-0, which included carp to 7lbs.

          On the other side of the pool Colin Reynolds was in the frame again, taking a level 75-0-0 from peg 30 for third. Fourth went to a Sycamore top score of 66-7-0 by John Wild (Stafford).

 

          Billy Ward (Dorset Pools) has been notching up wins from several venues lately, and added Boldings to his list on Saturday when he recorded top of the week, to head a tight and impressive frame.

          Pegged on Chestnut 17, Bill offered paste and pellet in the margins to contact carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs, ending the day on 127-8-0.

          Chestnut 21 provided the runner weight again, this time for John Francis (Rod & Gun). He had 70lbs of small carp in his net, made up to a total of 125-14-0 by carp to 8lbs, all taken close in on pellet.

          Third placed Pete Plant (Maver Midlands) also topped the ton at peg 30 on the Chestnut, with 115-6-0, with 4^th going to a Willows best of 86-14-0 by Tim Probert (OBW) at peg 16.

 

          Weights dropped in the heavy rain of Sunday when four weights in the 60lb range from the Oak Pool filled the frame.

          Dave Barnard (R&G) laid claim to the top prize with his 69-8-0 at point peg 29, where he had carp to 5lbs and skimmers to 1lb, the fish coming to pellet fished to the tree and at 5 metres.

          Dave Matson (R&G) found himself pipped to the post for the umpteenth time this year, falling short of the winner by just over a pound and a half when his mix of carp to 5lbs and barbel to 1lb came to 67-14-0 at peg 22.
