Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] clinched a win in the Monday open at Boldings Pools by posting the top weight of the week after drawing peg 5 on the Willows Pool. Phil set out his stall to work with maggot, which he fished shallow, 12 metres out from the peg, and was soon in contact with carp to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs, which built steadily into a 118-15-0 winner.

Andy Williams [Vespe] had all carp to 5lbs to head the Oak Pool card with 94-15-0, which gave him second on the day. Andy offered maggot and corn at 5 metres on peg 16. Darren Warden [Kings] was opposite the winner on the Willows, where 87-1-0 put him into third spot, just ahead of Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] who had 85-12-0 at Oak peg 31.

Steve Owen [Monkhall] made the step up from second last week to first  this week in the Wednesday open, winning from peg 21 on the Chestnut. Maggot, fished to the island and into the near side produced carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs, which gave final figures of 93-8-0.

The peg which Steve finished second from last week, Sycamore 13, gave the runner up weight again, this time for Graham Palmer [Fitters]. He went out to 8 metres from the point with maggot, as well as working the bait close in to the side, to record 74-13-0. Carp, barbel and bream all played a part in making up Graham's catch. Last weeks double winner Dave Brown [Maver] added a third to his collection, by weighing in 66-8-0 at Chestnut 13, and over at Sycamore 33 Mick Jameson [PI Bold] had 60-5-0 in fourth.

The main prize on Thursday was picked up by Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] who used a maggot and corn approach at peg 8 on the Sycamore to entice carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs on the 8 metre line, and close in to each side of the peg. At the end of the match, the scales indicated a total of 101-15-0 to give victory to Eric.

Russ Allen [Oswestry] was in the corner at Sycamore 30 and used the same maggot and corn combination to bring carp to 8lbs and barbel 3lbs into the margins to give figures of 88-13-0 for second. Dave Brown picked up another third with an Oak Pool best of 76-8-0 from peg 8, which was closely followed by 75-5-0 from Dave Pritchard [PI Bold] at Sycamore 33.

Steve Hall [Oswestry] headed the Saturday line up from peg 7 on the Willows, but it was a close run thing between him and Kevin Melville [Shrewsbury] on Sycamore peg 31, with only 7 ounces separating them at the finish. Steve ended the day on 81-12-0 and Kevin on 81-5-0.
