Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  30-10-13.

Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] carried on this week where he left off last week at Boldings, following up his Sunday win with another one on Monday.

Having won from Sycamore peg 22 last time, Eric repeated the task from peg 50 this time. Maggot at 5 metres, down the side and into the corner sorted out carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs to see him forge ahead of the field by over 30lbs, ending the day on 115-5-0.

Last Mondays winner Phil Shaw [Lower Hill] had to settle for second this week, his catch of carp and barbel on caster and maggot from peg 33 giving him figures of 81-10-0.

A level 78-0-0 from peg 4 handed fourth to Ken Shaw [Irlam AC] with fourth going to Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] whose 75-10-0 came from peg 30.

Phil Shaw moved up to fist place on Wednesday on the Oak Pool. Working with caster and maggot again, Phil found his fish, carp to 5lbs, at 8 metres and close in to weigh in 53-7-0 at peg 16.

In the corner on the dam wall at peg 1 Mick Jameson [PI Boldings] had carp in the 1lb to 3lb range on pellet for his runner up 48-15-0. Harry Colley [PI Bold] pipped Mick Keene [Shrewsbury] to third by one ounce when he scaled 46-14-0 at peg 31 and Mick had 46-13-0 at peg 5.

After having four minor placings last week Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] Made it to the top of the list on Thursday and left the rest well behind with his Willows winner. Ghost carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs homed in on his pellet bait, offered at 5 metres and down the side, to give a haul of 104-1-0 from peg 19.

Over on peg 4 Dave Doughty [Woodend] finished second for the second Thursday running. He baited with maggot and pellet on the 7 metre line, alternated with dropping in down the edge, to finish with 77-11-0 of carp to 6lbs. Third went to the best weight from the Sycamore, 75-15-0 which fell to Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] at peg 4, and was closely followed by a Chestnut best of 75-6-0 from Carl Foster [PI Bold] at peg 9.

Top weight of the week came from Mitch Davidson [Oak Ang Cent] and gave him a narrow margin victory on Saturday. Mitch worked shallow maggot at Willows peg 18 to net a succession of carp to 7lbs, and at the whistle had slipped the net under a total of 120-9-0.

At Willows peg 16 Colin Reynolds framed again and kept the pressure on Davidson from start to finish, ending the match only 6 ounces short of a second victory when the scales settled at 120-3-0.

A weight of 86-14-0 from Willows 19 gave third to Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] with fourth going to a Sycamore best of 81-5-0 by Matt Stobbs [Oak Ang Cent] at peg 33.

A net of carp and barbel from Sycamore peg 36 saw Tim Probert [PI Bold] home on Sunday. Samples to 8lbs and 3lbs accepted Tim’s pellet and corn feed, presented at 7 metres, to give final figures of 108-0-0.

Mick Jameson had another second by recording 96-14-0 at peg 33. He fished pellet at 4 metres and in the margins to attract carp and bream. At peg 25 Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] weighed 92-14-0 to claim third, and at peg 4 Mark Taylor [Shakespeare] had 86-11-0 to complete the frame.

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  23-10-13.

Top rod at Boldings Pools this week was Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] with two wins and a second place, as well as best weight of the week, and Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] had another good week with four placings.

It was on the Monday match that Eric had to settle for second, with Phil Shaw [Lower Hill] claiming the main prize. Maggot down the side of peg 43 on the Sycamore got the carp and barbel going, with samples to 6lbs and 3lbs respectively giving a reading of 83-2-0 on the scales.

Eric was down at the other end of the long bank, and he too worked with maggot, offering his bait into the corner at peg 30, where in addition to carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs he banked a carp of 15lbs which helped him to 72-4-0. Colin Reynolds finished a close third at peg 36 by weighing 69-15-0, and at peg 33 Chris Holmes [Middle Severn Angling] had 62-2-0 in 4th.

Last Sundays winner Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] stepped up to the mark on Wednesday this week with 81-1-0 for victory at Hawthorn peg 5, where maggot was the successful bait again, with Ken fishing it at 4 metres to attract carp to 6lbs.

Colin Wozek [Matrix TA] fished pellet at 8 metres and close in at peg 7 to finish second for the second Wednesday on the trot, he included carp to 5lbs in a net of 61-9-0.

Third came from peg 1 when Richard Duke [BAS] put 58-9-0 in the weigh tub, leaving Andy Buckley [Telford] to finish off the frame with 46-9-0 at peg 13.

Bancroft had the first of his two wins on Thursday when a better stamp of fish helped to edge ahead in a close battle with Dave Doughty [Woodend]. Eric had carp to 7lbs with barbel to 3lbs fishing maggot at 5 metres and in the side at Sycamore peg 25 to end the day on an even 66-0-0. Dave was on Sycamore 22 where pellet at 8 metres and close in put carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs in the net for 64-10-0.

Mark Taylor [Shakespeare Vespe] picked up third thanks to a Chestnut Pool best weight of 61-0-0 and Colin Reynolds added a fourth to his tally by scaling 51-14-0 at Sycamore 49.

Things were close again on Saturday with four pounds covering the top four and less than a pound between the top two.

Keith Powell [PI Boldings] was the one to squeeze into top spot with a mix of carp and barbel to 6lbs and 2lbs. He found his fish using pellet fished into the corner and at 4 metres from Sycamore peg 4 for final figures of 55-4-0.

Martin Cassidy [Irlam AC] opted for maggot and corn at peg 50 and had similar sized fish to the winner, but with carp and bream giving him his 54-6-0. Colin Reynolds had another third when he recorded 52-1-0 at peg 24, and just behind him on 51-5-0 at peg 34 was Dave Matson [Rod & Gun].

Eric Bancroft completed his week on a high note by leading a trio of ton weights on Sunday. Combining maggot and corn again on the Sycamore had the fish feeding at 5 metres and on the close in line at peg 22, with carp to 8lbs being joined by bream to 2lbs for a final tally of 110-2-0.

Colin Reynolds also had his best day, netting a Chestnut best of 106-4-0 from peg 38. Pellet and corn brought his fish to the scales, with carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs making up the catch. Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] beat he ton with 102-8-0 from Sycamore 13, with 4th going to Darren Webb [Telford] who had 93-8-0 at Sycamore 39.
