Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  29-2-12.

Mick Foan (Rod & Gun) collected the main prize on the Monday Affordable open at Boldings Pools when he finished clear of the field with a level 45-0-0. Pellet, fished close to the island and corn fished into open water at 12 metres at peg 21 on the Chestnut Pool did the job for Mick, bringing carp to 3lbs to his net.

Carl Foster (Preston Innov Boldings) topped the Oak Pool card to finish second, his 33-13-0 came from peg 4 on the dam.

Round at peg 8 on the Oak Eric Bancroft (R&G) put a level 31-0-0 on the scales for third and at Chestnut 29 Dave Matson made it three Rod & Gun men in the frame when he weighed 27-2-0.

Pegs on the Middle Pool filled the first three places on Wednesday, with Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) leading the way from peg 8. Fishing pellet at 10  metres put mainly carp to 4lbs in the net for 67-7-0.

Opposite the winner at peg 5 Keith Perrin (Tipton) finished as runner up for the second Wednesday running. Using similar tactics to the winner Keith netted 60-3-0.

Third man Dave Barnard (R&G) took his 47-12-0 from Middle peg 5 while an Ash best of 43-12-0 gave Dave Lloyd (PI Bold) 4th.

Having collected a second and a fourth last week Clive Wynn (Tricast Weston) recorded a ‘win’ double this week, and posted the top two weights of the week.  The first victory came on Thursday, and it was Chestnut peg 21 which came up trumps again, with pellet and corn close to the island finding carp to 4lbs for the best catch of the week, 78-1-0.

Ian Hughes was in the mix again, taking second this time with a catch of carp and bream on pellet at 12 metres for 58-0-0 at Chestnut 38. Keith Powell (PI Bold) had the best catch from the Sycamore, 56-13-0 from peg 16 to pick up third, and just behind him, on 56-9-0 at Chestnut 16 was Dave Hailey (PI Bold).

Clive Wynn collected his second winners purse on Saturday when he made the Sycamore pool a winner. Pegged on 33 he presented pellet and corn at 12 metres, and contacted carp to 6lbs, which added up to 76-4-0.

Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) had carp, bream and barbel at Chestnut peg 30 to finish second on 55-4-0. Dave Barnard picked up another third when he recorded an Oak best of 49-12-0 with Mac Cox a close 4th on 49-6-0 at Chestnut 16.

The Sycamore produced another winner on Sunday when Phil Taylor (Dams & Locks) was involved in a close finish with Dave Barnard, who was making his third visit to the frame.

Taylor was on Sycamore peg 24 and found a better stamp of carp than those in the rest of the weeks frame weights, with samples to 8lbs picking up his pellet and corn offerings to help Phil to a narrow victory with 61-8-0.

‘Barney’ was up at peg 48 and had carp to 5lbs on pellet and maggot for his 60-15-0.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) and Tim Probert (PI Bold) were also involved in a close finish for third with Mick claiming the place with his Chestnut best of 56-13-0 leaving Tim to collect 4th with his 56-2-0 at Sycamore 31.

Tony pulled Stock peg 11 from the draw bag and fished pellet at 14 metres to find carp to 3lbs which gave a return of 29-14-0 for top spot.

It was a close run thing for second between Gary Morris (PI Bold) and Ian Place (Telford). Gary got the nod at Stock peg 7 where pellet at 10 metres put 17-4-0 of carp and roach on the scales to pip Ian’s 17-2-0 of carp at Middle Pool peg 8.

Mick Jameson stepped up for the first of his wins on Wednesday, which came from the Oak Pool. Mick was on peg 27 and offered pellet in the channel and down the side to net 42-2-0 of carp to 4lbs.

Keith Perrin (Tipton) moved up a place from last Wednesday to finish a close second this time with a Larch best of 40-15-0. he included carp to 6lbs in his catch, which fell to pellet at 10 metres at peg 13.

Jameson’s second win was made with the best bag of the week 62-2-0, which came from peg 48 on the Sycamore on Thursday, when pellet at 10 metres attracted carp to 5lbs.

Clive Wynn was in the frame again, moving up to second and recording a Chestnut best weight of 52-1-0. Clive had carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs on pellet at 14 metres from peg 9.

Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) finished 9 ounces behind second when he scaled 50-6-0 at Chestnut 26 and Chestnut 37 Rino Stanko (Oakengates Ang Cent) had 36-8-0 in 4th.

Steve Hall (Oswestry) fished pellet and maggot at 6 metres and in the side at peg 9 on the Ash on Saturday to win with 53-5-0, which was made with carp to 6lbs.

Chris Hill (Maver) added 6 Preston league points to the 5 he scored last week-end when he took the honours on Sunday. Oak peg 5 responded to pellet and corn fished along the dam and out at 6 metres to put 46-14-0 on the scales for victory.
